remember, the president raised $48 million for himself and about $38 million for the dnc. he did so he by holding 31 fundraising events, attending 31 fundraising dinners, receptions or luncheons over the past three months. every three days the president has had a fundraiser. having been inside the white house, that's a big chunk of the president's time to go get on an airplane, "fox news live" some place, do another event in order to give it a nonofficial cost to it, then go do the fundraiser and fly back to washington. he has done these in nine states. he can't keep up that pace. there aren't that many places in america where you can too-million-dollar fundraisers. look, you go to new york as he has six times. how many more times can you go to new york and have a million-dollar fundraiser. almost half his money came from a handful. several hundred-dollar dread bundlers. the president just can't keep up that pace. the second thing is he has a weakness in his donors. if you take a look at it, he heralds the fact he got 260,000 new donors, that means 290,000 people renewed t

joining mess, former dnc chair and pennsylvania governor ed rendell.msnbc news analyst, and bob herbert, a distinguished senior fellow at a think tank. bob, how would you rate the strategy so star? do you think it's wrong or right? >> politically the strategy is very good, and i agree with you, the president is winning this battle, but i think it's a wholly manufactured crisis. there should be no controversy around raising the debt limit. the republicans should have agreed to raise it, as they did several times during the bush administration, just raise it and move on. the real crisis in this country right now is an employment crisis, which is why the economy is in the tank. what the two parties should be negotiating is a way to get americans back to work, and then leave the debt issue, the long-term budget deficits and debt issues into -- into the medium term. deal with the jobs crisis first, and then deal with the debt issues, which are serious, but deal with them subsequently. >> i had a congressman telling me if we protect the top 1%, jobs will com

the dnc says filings show the one-day total was $2.4 million. $7 million short roughly of the goal.y's campaign says the money raised associated with the event included early contributions and future pledges. a comprehensive medicaid reform law passed with broad bipartisan support in illinois. it's partially blocked by the federal government. a group of illinois republicans say the centers for medicare and medicaid services cms recently decided to disallow a provision of the law that would require medicaid beneficiaries to show they had low incomes as well as proof of residency. they lived in the state. republican senator mark kick said the legislation would save the state $800 million in the next ten years. kirk and his colleagues asked c.m.s. to re-examine his decision. c.m.s. spokesman tells fox while some of the state initial proposal did not comply with federal law, c.m.s. worked hand in hand with the state to offer alternate solutions to address their concerns. finally, there is a growing online campaign to support current russian prime minister vladimir putin for president. a

attacks on the president and the economy have gotten a little extra scrutiny particularly against the dncwhat he said yesterday in los angeles, campaigning was what he was doing, but fund-raising was what he was doing. >> obviously the challenges are not the result of the current administration, a lot of the economic woes around you and the country are a result of errors made over a long period of time. >> that's a different answer than he's given about president obama. the romney campaign will say, hey, wait a minute, he's given a version of that answer all the time. >> they reached out to us and said, when he was criticizing obama in pennsylvania and in allentown, that had to do with an economic stimulus that obama touted in allentown, that factory later had closed, this venue in los angeles has been something that had been a problem since the 1990s. the one problem with mitt romney, though, these time of events, more importantly, it seems like he's become the grim reamer, he's standing behind the closed factories, he wants to make the point that the obama policies have failed and where
