they either write a big check to the dnc or they raise money for the dnc. they go speak at a giant fundraiser. what i think we should do and said, if a presidential candidate wants access, contingent upon adopting a state, a red state that will not be competitive in the election and raising x amount of dollars for that. going to that state and do a fundraiser. let's make them adopt a state. also encouraged democratic donors to adopt estate. a high level or, you know, getting people to give $10 a month. someonee will take it on. who is going to take time. we haveak to start working on it right now. >> what would be that advocacy to get the dnc to do those things? citizens pushing their delegates? what would it be? >> the state party chairs. it is a 435 members, 400 plus members of the dnc. other quote unquote dnc members who are officials elected by the local party to push them to push the chair or to push the rules committee to change the rules. the best way this will happen, the easiest way is for a democratic president to be elected to make those changes.

the dnc has a very limited role. one of the suggestions i make to be part of the problem to be overly focused on the presidency because the dnc chair serves a four-year term tied to the presidential all cycles of every chair comes in i have a 50 state strategy i will fund all the state parties but also utah and arkansas and alaska. but what happens is they say that but the and the presidential election year comes now their job is to get the president elected so as soon as the nominee wins they take over the dnc they put their staff in their and control the purse strings so obviously what does the presidential candidate care about? the seven states they need to win so howard dean was the originator of the 50 state strategy when barack obama was running he tried to focus on it we won the nomination and then i recommend we disconnect the chair from the presidential cycle and put them on a six-year term. the other idea that would help because really that's what we care about sustainable progressive infrastructure all ove

he was at the dnc in 1992. i interviewed him. will remember for a long time bill clinton was running third that year behind ross perot and george h w bush. i spoke with les and this is may, late in the game in may, 1992. they were worried at the dnc that clinton would finish a distant third and not qualify for federal matching money. that is a quaint concept because george w bush blew that out of the water. but that he would not be funded. and less and others produce a paper internal to the dnc and set our future is not in the south but in the west. i wrote about it at the time. in california that's a local angle and chauvinistic of me, but it turned out there was a lot there. four democrats now, you put together the map and they can win without the south and they had not been able to do that until 1992. bill clinton was a southerner. and he did what they wanted him to do. he was able to attract black votes and progressive whites in the south who are still proud of the south. bill clinton had a southern accent and he was one of t

i don't think the dnc has done themselves any favors. it had good viewership but we are in the middle of a crisis. people aren't going to focus on that. >> greg: it felt weird. when bernie was hammering joe, all joe was doing was denying it. he kept saying no i didn't, no i didn't. and he did on almost everything. it was like a fight in a walmart parking lot between two seniors over a parking space. >> kennedy: i know joe biden is trying to play defense but i also think people aren't buying into bernie sanders offense. in his right to go after joe biden on his hypocrisy because he really is forcing him to do a 180 on some pretty big issues including foreign policy and criminal justice reform. my biggest issue was with bernie sanders saying that we have a dire lack of medical personnel in this country right now. if you think it's bad now, give every doctor and nurse a 40% pay cut and see what your medical personnel looks like in ten years when no one is going to medical or nursing school because they won't be able to make a decent living.

the dnc, which i have been a part of and i have fought to reform. i was part of the commission on behalf of bernie sanders reform and primary process. they have leaned in on their powers so, so heavily in this democratic primary that i think it is no longer doable for them to hide behind the curtain that they use to and if they look at these numbers, they have not just for the parties but frankly the future of this country. the numbers bernie sanders has won 70% of voters under 50. that is not just young people anymore. 70% of those under 50 collectively. you have a multigenerational multiracial movement and the democratic party establishment, joe biden. i say establishment because joe biden has not gone out there and earned those votes. the election split so quickly in the last nine days, that we also don't know what is going to happen during the next, you know nine days or 15 days. >> harris: all right come i want to insert something without over blowing it because neither one of us as a doctor although i've spoke with many over the last 72 hours.
