[laughter] >> get ready for that, deposit with my phone there. next is an award that i think, you know, ironically it's become one of those buzz awards for nen awards. i'll be walking down the street and have someone come up and get in my face, we're going to come back neighborhood of the year, you watch. come back neighbor of the year, it's that bcs of the nen awards. and it's my honor to introduce someone who to drone deuce this award, many of you much in the southern part of the city especially have worked side by side with and do amazing things in your neighborhood, especially along merchant corridors. that's chrisy atano of the economic work force development. that's bayview, that's potrero hill, visitacion valley, it's a little hollywood, it's dogpatch.t used to be the portola, half of it. my heart is still with you, but i'm glad like the speaker said, it is whole. and that is what's important, is that that neighborhood remains whole so that our city will be whole. you agree? [cheering and applauding] cheers >> so, a few years back there was this little idea to take back the bayview and really began to rewrite the history and the narrative that we often hear about in bayview. and it actually started, ironically, with a small little abandoned swath of land that has grown up to become the cuseda garden. and it's the thought child and the physical manifestation of hard work, of a few community leaders that got together and rolled up their sleeves and got to work. and tonight i have the honor to introduce one of the co-founders, his name is jeffery betcher. where are you? get up here. and jeff is going to introduce to you as he escorts ms. annette young smith to the stage. this lady, ladies and gentlemen, is a lifetime achievement award

present about keeping families in the southeast san francisco, our main focus is potrero hills and dogpatch. i am stacy bartlett, parent of a second grader at daniel sweb -- webster. >> we represent the daniel webster task force. and kind for starters we think there is something very special going on at daniel webster. and probably the case that most parents feel that way about their public school. we observe and want to expand the magic at our school. the task force's history was described well by the school district. you will move on from that. and the information that they shared was extremely helpful. much of what we are asking for today is included on that piece of paper. maybe that can allow us to move through things quickly. what i would say we are looking at this situation from two levels. one is strategic level, how the school plans fit in with the san francisco growth plan and larger city goals. including keeping families in the city. and the situation that affects our school, the middle school feeder plan. so when we look around our neighborhood and see the strategies in place to

i'm a business owner in san francisco in the dogpatch area. my first contact with mel murphy was actually when he hired me to do some asbestos abatement at one of his properties. it was a tiny little job, it wasn't -- maybe a $4,000 job. and we've never worked together on a project since, but we've become good friends which is much more important to me. but i bring that project up because it was an asbestos abatement project with a type of asbestos that's very -- it's not a big deal. it's [speaker not understood] which doesn't pose too much of a threat. it's a lower class of asbestos abatement. but mel was so adamant about doing everything right in order to make sure that his -- the neighboring properties in that property were protected. and, so, you know, this idea that has been presented in some publications that he doesn't look at the rules applicable to him is absolutely incorrect. and i actually came here to really speak about him as a man, but everybody else has done such an eloquent job of that, i wanted to make sure that i spoke about
