this happened about 10:30 last night here on the border of san ramon and dublin on doherty road near fallbrook drive. the video of the crash, you see there the vehicle is unrecognizable. after the driver hit the tree, it split in half, each half of the vehicle was then engulfed in flames. we did see the coroner out here at the scene and the alameda county fire department says it appears that the driver and likely one other person were in the vehicle at the time. the investigation continues, but at this point, shear impact of the crash point to speed as a factor. doherty road is a main thoroughfare here along this neighborhood, there are apartment complexes on one side. it is open once again, to it shouldn't impact traffic. but speed limit is 45 and we've definitely seen people who are likely going faster than that. i'll remind you that according to the national highway traffic safety administration, speed is a factor in about a third of crashes. so slow down as you hit the road this morning. kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> great reminder. >>> and also developing now the desperat
