. >>> good evening, i'm domenica davis. we're following the heat and thunderstorm activity out to the west. the heat in the desert southwest looking at temperatures. current readings around the vegas area, close to 110 mark. 106 in mesa, arizona. temperatures get cooler the further east you go. that's where we're dealing with moisture and looking at thunderstorm watch box until 10:00 o'clock local time for eastern parts of new mexico, western parts of texas and southern portion of colorado. you could see strong gusty wind. that would be your main threat with any of these thunderstorms that are dropping through. also a chance of dry lightning popping up in the arizona area. haven't really seen that. this cell to the south of albuquerque has been the only producer of lightning in and around that area. so far, so good. one more day of hot temperatures through the desert southwest. and a little break with the heat by monday. that is the latest from fox weather center, i'm domenica davis. >> the bottom of the hour, time for the

meteorologist domenica davis is at the fox weather center with today's forecast, hello, domenica. >> hot down to the south especially and that's where we have the heat warnings that will stay in effect until sunday. here is what you're looking at temperature-wise and you can see across the country, it's not that bad because the heat now has come to the south and high pressure really centering itself over the southern states. hot in the usual places like phoenix, but the extreme heat we're looking at and mainly concerned with through this weekend and the winning of the work week is down to the south, namely texts and through parts of kansas and you already have temperatures well into the 90's. today's highs will get above 100 degrees in many spots and we'll see the heat indices anywhere from 108 to 110 and we're talking to extreme heat. the kind of heat you want to stay indoors and limit the activity that's going to be outside, because this could really prove to be troublesome by later today and also, in the afternoon tomorrow and the next day. elsewhere across the country. we're not

domenica davis in with your weather.d warm. >> gretchen, the temperatures are cool here in the northeast unfortunately. look where it is really hot. it's starting a little bit of a heat wave here. because for the next three days we are going to be looking at temperatures either in the upper 90's or as you can see today's highs in some cases will be over the 100-degree mark. factor in the humidity and it feels like 115 in plenty of these spots. it's a scorcher. that heat doesn't break until the end of the week. take a look at temperatures elsewhere across the country. still dealing with cool conditions to the northeast. temperatures running a little bit below normal and out to the west coast 71 for the high in san francisco. a cool 6 a in seattle. weefs do have a chance for some severe storms mainly through the northern plains and down down through the northern tip of florida. that's the latest from here. guys. brian: that was domenica. now this. imagine you can't talk to friends in your own home. that's what happened to

domenica davis has a look at the nation's weather. >> it's in the 80s here but out in the west, couple days now. tomorrow the heat sticks around and it's going to go down just a little bit. it will get down to the hundred degree marks where we're close to 110 in many spots. death valley, they could get to 120. so this is some very extreme heat. we do have heat warnings and we'll see them pop up again on sunday. here is what we're looking at for current temperatures. in and around this area, these thunderstorms are trying to pop up. we do have a little bit of rain over to the west and down to the south. that is where all the warm moist air is. out to the west, it's very dry. the problem is, dry thunderstorms are going to be possible. dry thunderstorms means lightning but no rain and that would only be a problem to the fires that are now population up in parts of desert southwest. we'll keep talking bit and we do have the lightning tracker and i don't see much happening over the last few hours. they'll be a risk half dry thunderstorm through the remainder of the afternoon and into the ev

domenica davis has more. hi. >> really nothing like that today. but storms weakened considerably. we still have a few causes for concern. severe thunderstorms warning that arose pushing into parts of new york and then down to the ohio valley and the kentucky area. we have our watch bes up. central kentucky, and then western new york, central pennsylvania, both of these white boxes go until 9:00 o'clock local time. then the storms slide off to the east, weaken even further. as far as what we're looking at today with these severe thunderstorm warnings and even looks like we have a tornado warning now north of baltimore, is really it's not too bad. hail and a few strong wind gusts knocking tree limbs down might be some power outages. again, those storms have weakened significantly. we do have radar indicating rotations in one of the cells sitting to the north of buffalo. we'll check that out and bring you updates as needed. otherwise the storms slide off to the east after midnight and push along the coast. for sunday, from parts of boston, new york, and down even into the baltimore a

domenica davis is live in our fox weather center with the latest. >> looking at very hot weather moving in toward the beginning of the workweek here. let's start out with our tornado warnings. we do have a tornado warning right now from money co- county in new york. this is the only tornado warning out there. straight line winds are being reported with this storm. it has until 6:30 local time and then you can see this storm will be out into the lake. good news there. we are monitoring some severe thunderstorms that are really from new york pushing to the ohio valley. a few watch boxes up. kentucky, buffalo and going to the central part of pennsylvania. these will expire at 9:00 o'clock local time. both of these watch boxes and as these storms move off to the east, they'll start to lose some of their intensity that we have been seeing. not too bad, but with any of these storms, nickel size hail, and again, straight line winds. you do have is a few areas in the ohio valley and upstate new york, especially, where you have some tree limbs down. that will be the case for the rest of the even

domenica davis is here to tell us that they do not have good weather. >> it is very hot there.g at record highs -- [no audio] downtown made it to 100 degrees. you can see plenty of places above the 100 degree mark. yesterday was not the first day. this has been going on for the past few days. today is no exception. high pressure pacific northwest which means that we will continue to see these record highs. he'd warnings for the next few days, so take them seriously. on the flip side, look at what the heat is doing here in this divide where we have the northern plains. rapid city will struggle to reach 70 degrees. where we see yellow, that is where they are running 20 degrees below normal. a bit of a different story. it certainly does not feel like july in that part of the country. we are monitoring some storms coming from the south moving up to the northeast. we could get some nasty thunderstorms pushingç through the mid-atlantic, up to new england. it may hit all of the major cities from washington to boston. also, -- [no audio] jane: that sounds like a thunderstorm. gregg: i

domenica davis is live to explain. >> hi, kelly, he's going to stick around today and tomorrow and then little bit by monday, but these are the temperatures we're going to be looking at in the meantime. almost the hundred degree mark, the southwest, expected high today, 113 in vegas, phoenix, 114 and 107 in tucson where you have the purples, looking at heat warnings that will stay into effect until eight o'clock locale time and pick up again through sunday and i think we'll continue to see some sort of heat advisory through much of the week. now, we don't have much going on on the radar, you can see the temperatures are much cooler along the coast and scattered showers coming from the gulf, but what we're looking at this afternoon is the chance of some dry thunderstorms to pop up. that means no rain, but plenty of lightning and the problem with that is it could fuel some of the fires because they have a lot of dry vegetation around here and that will be an increasing problem not only the heat, but a chance to see some of those fires spread as well. so, we will keep checking it out throu
