and this is heading for the dominican republic later on tonight. the dominican republic has some tall mountains, and they typically tear the storm apart. the national hurricane center is thinking it has a chance to regenerate. if it does, this would be the general path it would take. the closest it would get to south florida, sometime around saturday at midnight or so until 2:00 a.m. that's the closest it should be to miami. then the hurricane center thinks it makes a more northwards turn and parallel the florida coast. that cone of uncertainty includes florida, but most of it is off the coast. on sunday, it will head up towards the carolinas. they think at this time it could strengthen over the warm waters of the gulf stream and have a category 1 hurricane along the south carolina or north carolina coast. we have a lot of interest here with emily. the big key is what will the state of emily be tomorrow morning after it comes off of haiti and the dominican republic? as far as commuter models go, a lot of them are taking it close to florida and para

the closer to the dominican republic waker the storm will remain.pulls its energy from the warm ocean waters. now it is forecast to remain north of the dominican republic making a north, northwest track before making a northward track as we head into the week and into the weekend. big change here. there are is change in the forecast track. many forecast models have the storm pulling further off towards the east away from the coast of florida. that said, florida is still in the cone of uncertainty. so that means that there is still a chance that we could see impacts out here. if the storm does stick to that line in red, that is the forecast track, it would be impacting charleston, south carolina by saturday morning as a major hurricane, category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 115 miles an hour. of course there is still a lot of time to go here. we could continue to see changes. many models continue to pull the storm further off toward the east. as far as hurricane advisories. we have had changes. hurricane warning in effect for southeastern port

the center of that storm right up here to the north of the dominican republic, moving toward the turkshe center is pulling further north. that means it will start to intensify more as it starts to interact a bit less with haiti and the dominican republic. you can see the south side of the storm is starting to get beat up a bit. as it pulls away from that, we'll start to see this thing intensify. let's watch the official forecast track. this is what the international hurricane center is expecting, through the bahamas, through the day tomorrow into your thursday, and intensifying, becoming a major hurricane. now south florida, eastern florida needs a heads-up. you guys might get brushed by this thing just a bit. you see the turn to the north, the big bull's-eye here toward the carolinas, but notice the delmarva is in the cone. let's show you the models i was talking about. the big thick white line, that's the official forecast track there from the national hurricane center, but take notice, loose at the models which are way out here. they all have been trending east, nothing brings it in

caribbean we've been watching, of course, hurricane irene in here moving now away from the dominican republic and headed for the turks and caicos islands. it shows chances of identifying. it may become a category three or more over the next few days as it aims for the bahamas. after that it looks like they may get close to the southeast coast of the united states. this will be a system to keep a close eye on. there will be plenty of rain with this system already impacting areas like hispaniola, puerto rico. the bulk of the rain will now aim for turks and caicos as well as the bahamas. wet picture, indeed. ahead of that, gulf coast has been dealing with showery conditions. another low is going to develop across central canada. also looking unsettled across the midwest too. could see severe weather pop up here. watch out for that. wednesday's highs looking at 40 degrees in oklahoma city. and houston coming in at 38. finally a look at europe here. scattered showers will start moving through the british isles today. that's be persisting as the low continues to spin off in the atlantic. and we've

it is passing the northeastern dominican republic. a category 2. th is the first hurricane of the atlantic hurricane season. the winds are sustained at 100 miles an hour. it is moving to the west northwest at 100 miles an hour. as we look at our computer animation, you will see what will happen. this category 2 hurricane is expected to become a category 3 and move across the bahamas and eventually intensifying into a category 4 hurricane by thursday evening. and then it is expected to skirt the southeastern united states, expected to make landfall somewhere around south carolina by saturday evening. could possibly be eyeing myrtle beach. of course as you know hurricanes can change paths quickly so, we will be keeping a close eye on irene. and a look at the local forecast, look at the level of the tower. watch the marine layer going from 2,000 feet deep to just about a thousand foot. we are talking about a compression for the marine layer. as it is compressing it is becoming dense right down on the deck and the fog is reducing visibili
