parts of haiti and the dominican republic could see rainfall amounts up to 40 inches in some isolated spots. that's likely going to lead to some mudslides as well as some flooding rains out there. inches of rain and parts of cuba up to 20. parts of the bahamas up to 15 inches. so a lot of moisture packing with this storm. the track does keep it a major hurricane as it pushes on through the caribbean. by tuesday noticing 120 miles-per-hour winds a category three adz pushes through the bahamas. notice the time spam this is by late week it does week as it gets closer to the southeast areas of the united states. doesn't make landfall per se watch the track because some of the models are suggesting it makes a close approach and noticing all of these lines here indicating some of the models attempt to push off to the southeast. which is a new trend just starting today. we'll have to watch and see if that continues. if that does some of the impacts here by next weekend. until then lots of clouds and temperatures in the 50s overnight tonight. tomorrow a little bit better upper 60s to low 70s.

getting outer rain bands throughout haiti, the dominican republic, and jamaica. it's moving north at 6 miles per hour. hurricane warnings still up for haiti, cuba, and jamaica. as it heads due north, it's going to put ic west side. the weaker side. still a strong storm. but unfortunately it's going to bring the brunt of the worst weather. the worst storm surge to haiti. and the eastern portion of cuba. as we head into the middle of the week, it reemerges as a category three storm. still a major hurricane. travels through the bahamas. slowly weakens off florida's east coast. category 2 storm for friday and saturday. this storm is moving off the at this point, most computer models keeping this system off florida's east coast. it bears watching none the less. the hurricane center is literally watching it from the center of the storm. here's the computer models. they're generally in agreement coming up north of cuba. then they get a little bit widerrings places along the south carolina, north carolina coastline. some of those computer models are closer there, some fa

the width of the system itself stretching from cuba right on through haiti and into the dominican republice looking at this category 3, these path projections similar to what it was where it's showing us that at 2:00 a.m. on your thursday, increasing to a category 4, moving through the bahamas. very dangerous for this area. then we push this along friday now. 2:00 a.m., 130 mile per hour winds. look how close we're getting to the florida coastline here from miami all the way up to jacksonville in this line of fire unfortunately, the track has not changed in that regard. we continue downgrading to a category 2 by saturday morning. still, though, at 110 mile-per-hour winds. this is where things change just a bit. still going to track along the east coast with the newest update. what we're looking at the newest update, it drops down to a category 1 hurricane by your monday. the cone now is really starting to curve almost directly to the east, which is a very good sign for us. now we are no longer in the cone at all. it looks like that cold front will be sitting to our west will be part of the

the south coast of haiti and the dominican republic. on the back side you will get strong winds and damage and torrential tropical rain, but you wouldn't get those biggest storms surge from this, but with a storm this big you will still get a huge surge on the back side of the storm, on the northern coast of cuba and jamaica in particular. this is the computer model projections, taking it right in between haiti and cuba, and through the bahamas. but, when you get north of north carolina, many of the computer models start to diverge. most of them still take it up inland or off shore? this is a front coming at us from the west, by the weekend. and the jeem dips and at the same time the jeem is going around high pressure clockwise. without getting too complicated the bottom line is these arrows meet and it's like a bowling alley coming up the coast. something we watch for with every named storm in the bahamas for that to form in case it comes this way. plenty of time for to play out for this storm to get through these islands first and it

you can see the size of of it affecting much of haiti, the dominican republic, cuba and now it has its sights set on the bahamas. it's still a category 4 storm, and by the way we now have two storms, there's not only hurricane matthew, we also have a little sister that was born is expected to remain quite weak and stay out to sea, perhaps affecting bermuda. but where is matthew going to go? a very complex question. milk mike with more on that. mike: we use the computer models to track it and give us an idea of where the storm will go and based on all the different computer models for the next 24 hours you notice how well defined the track is. most of the models all agree in a north between now and thursday, right through the heart of the bahamas as a strong category 3 or 4 hurricane. notice after that a couple models begin to pull off to the east, but many others work very close to florida. that's why hurricane watches are in effect for a good part of the sunshine state and the eastern half of from florida. after that it turns more to north as it's influenced by an area of low pressure
