>> i think so, don.s really troubling about the debate is really missed by a lot of commentators, this is really a spending issue. we understand that even if taxes go up on individuals making over 200,000 and families making over 250, it only plugs about 8% of the deficit problem over the next ten years. we have a $1.3 trillion deficit for 2012. it will be about a trillion for 2013. we're borrowing 35 cents on the dollar. the enormous problem is interest rates are way below normal, so when they spike, which they inevitably will, and the government is borrowing very short term to keep its costs down, the deficit is going to swamp the economy. and at that point you're going to have the debt crisis, and you're going to need a whole new stream of revenues. the only thing that paul krugman and paul ryan agree on, in a crisis situation, only a value-added tax will solve this problem. by raising marginal tax rates to get us out of this potential crisis. so we need very, very steep spending cuts, all of the emph

don?> yeah. and alison, we've also learned some new information about the victim's deaths. what do you know about that? >> and this is really hard t hear. you know, i means the medical examiner yesterday coming out and saying all of the victims were shot -- were shot multiple times, some shot anywhere from three to 11 times each. this is really hard stuff to hear. all of the children were 6 or 7 years old, in first grade. one thing we are learning from lieutenant paul vance who had a news conference a short time ago, the process of releasing the bodies to the families has begun. as far as the investigation goes, according to vance, four weapons were found at the school, three were found at the house in the neighborhood where i am, where the gunman lived with his mother. also we are learning that the atf is finished with tracing the weapons and who owned these weapons. now it looks like federal agents are chasing other leads. they're going to 30 gun ranges, 400 gun dealers and four counties

let's go right back to don lemon. don? >> all right, soledad. that's what happened inside the school. we have some new developments to tell you about from here in newtown. the president, president barack obama will be here tomorrow. the white house says the president will meet with the family of the victims, the 20 children and the six adults killed in their elementary school yesterday. also, we have reaction this evening from peter lanza, the father of the 20-year-old police say killed those people and then killed himself. the father says, quote, our family is grooeing along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. no words can truly express how heart broken we are. now, let me show you this picture that was just obtained by cnn. it shows adam lanza, back in 2005. he would be about 13 years old in this picture. and we have word tonight from police who are trying to learn why this young man would commit such an horrific act. they say they have found very good evidence in adam lanza's home that is helping them put together

gran der soders don lemon. had a very touching column about how parents can keep their children safe. what conclusion did you come to? >> sadly, the conclusion i came to as a parent was it's virtually impossible to ensure that my son or anyone's child will be protected from any harm that can happen once they're out of our sights. as i was dropping my son off this morning, i watched him walk all the way into the building, and it literally took every effort in me not to get out of the car and walk him personally to the building, and he's 16 years old. you know, when you see something like this, you see the little lives that were taken, i don't know how any parent can have peace when their child is not near them. so it's very, very distressing, and we're really hoping that the conversations that have begun to happen this weekend don't end once all the funerals have been held. that true legislative power comes from this. >> we'll see. will, i'm going to ask you a tough question. i know at least two school districts
