[applause] >> thank you very much jeff and it's a great honor and privilege to be part of this ceremony and to provide a little entertainment while the signing is going on. as we gather today to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the federal reserve act and the founding of the federal reserve system lets recall the history of central banking in the united states and key events and issues leading to the establishment of the federal reserve and some of the changes, legislative changes that have occurred since that time. before the federal reserve was created in 1913 the swedish bank was founded in 1668 the bank of england in 1694. i guess only dewey was around for those.
