first look at don dahler in the newsroom for the sunday morning headlines. >> good morning, it is august 24th, 2014. a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck california earlier this morning. the u.s. geological survey says the quake was certained near the town of american canyon close to napa airport, that is about 35 miles northeast of san francisco. cbs news producer is there and joins us by phone george. >> good morning don. i am seeing flames on tv of a fire in napa. as you know, american canyon is near the napa valley. we have not heard about major damage so far. it looks like maybe two homes are burning. there were reports of water main breaks. there is debris on the floor of stores that were open, but so far, it is a long rolling shake, but not major damage so far, and no injuries reported so far. >> all right. great, george oster camp reporting from california, thank you very much. there will be more on the bay area earthquake on tonight's cbs news and always at cbsnews.com .. in other news now, president obama has ordered a review of programs that provide police across the country with

don dahler is at the canandaigua motorsports park with new evidence. >> reporter: authorities are asking for more help from the public who may have witnessed saturday's accident from the fans to fellow drivers. investigators returned to the scene of the deadly crash monday scanning the track for clues but they've yet to link nascar champ tony stewart to a crime. >> we would like to see resolution as quickly as possible but by the same token we don't want to leave any stone unturned. >> reporter: authorities are looking at two videos taken by spectators. including this one that shows kevin ward getting out of his car. an autopsy revealed the 20-year-old died of massive blunt trauma. chuck hadn't sensed any animosity between the two drivers. >> kevin's been in the field every time. there's never been a problem between the two of them. >> reporter: following an incident stewart released a state expressing this sadness but hasn't been seen in public since. a crisis management expert. >> he expressed the kind of grief you'd expect given the circumstances. bu

don dahler looks at the awards. >> reporter: kevin ward sr. says there's no reason for the crash that killed his son. he said that tony stewart was the best damn driver by far on the track that night. why he had to go up as high as he did and hog my son, there's no reason for it. he goes on to say apparently tony stewart was the only one driving out there who didn't see him. the one person who knows what happened that night is possibly facing ten years in prison. is he going to say what he done. video from the scene shows kevin ward jr. hit the wall after he and fellow driver tony stewart collided on the track. moments later the 20-year-old gets out of his car. several drivers whiz by him but when stewart comes back around he hits ward fatally. ward sr. says he and his wife watched for 45 minutes as emergency crews performed cpr on their son to no avail. officials have said there's no evidence of criminal intent but stewart could still face charges in connection with ward's death. ward will be laid to rest today in booneville new york. his fat
