once lived here chile ignatius dameyko, or as the chileans themselves affectionately called him, don ignaciotically destroyed building, the remains of an estate of the domeya family. relatives of the famous scientist lived in this once beautiful house ; he himself was here, though not for long; dameyeika spent most of his life far from his native land, literally on the other side of the world, in chile. for the young chilean republic , ignatius dameica was a real authority; he reorganized the education system, made a number of colossal discoveries, and found much-needed for santiago, sources of clean water, as the local press wrote, don ignacio is not just a scientist, he is an apostle of science. the streets, libraries, schools named after him, as well as the planet, the city, the mineral, the variety of azalea, the cactus and this dilapidated building remind us of dameik’s many merits today. ignatius politovich dreamed of spending the last years of his life here, but it didn’t work out. he died in distant chile, where his tireless thirst for travel brought him, already an eighty-year-old m
