that is why he is this year's ultimate patriot colonel don patton. >> world war ii was a major conflictorld war ii history, a feeling of patriotism and friendship. >> welcome to the dr. deutsch world war ii history wound trouble, could the world war ii veterans in audience please stand up. we started programs in october of 1987. the mission was the round table to teach world war ii history by bringing in the historians reaching out to students, and working with schools and organizing tours to go to the places where history was made. it is nice to have the round table to help tell the story. >> i am proud to be one of the world war ii veterans, i know how thin the ranks of getting, i myself am 99 years old. >> i think that don patton's legacy will be the amount of history that he has facilitated preserving so many stories that would have gone untold that would have been lost forever. have been preserved through the world war ii round table. >> god is a lover of america. a mentor whos wi wisdom that i seek. >> thank you for your years of service. and telling of its amazing story. >> no on

watching yesterday and so excited for tonight, met somebody who is going to get an award, colonel don pattonome ultimate patriot and amazing guy, a couple of pictures we can show. and it's just one of the many people who has done incredible things for the country and never asks for anything but it's going to an award tonight. >> pete: never wants to ask for anything, and what he does is started a program to make sure that the stories of world war ii vets are preserved and told. has been doing it for decades in minnesota, to no accolades at all. and that's exactly what the patriot awards is about. he did not do it for the spotlight, but tonight, and these five will be joining me at some point, so certainly not just me, all of us, we will throw the spotlight right on the people who really deserve it. our heroes come our patriots.
