the meetings took place between donald trump jr., agilof and the other intermediary. president trump said, now that we are the actual nominee for the republicans, i'm going to give a very important speech next monday on how and why hillary clinton is a horrible candidate to be president. on the 9th, that meeting takes place, and there was no dirt coming from it, so that speech never took place. so i'm convinced that trump jr. went to his father immediately by phone or in person going up one flight of stairs to talk to him about what they were going to get. >> we do know from corwin lewandowski, the former trump campaign manager, that the phone that donald trump's personal residence over there at trump tower was a blocked phone number. once again, we don't know who donald trump jr. was calling, but we do know it was a blocked number. do you believe the special prosecutor, robert mueller, knows who don jr. called? >> i believe he does, virtually because he has access to any information he wants to get in terms of due diligence and the investigation. >> i want to ask you

if you look at donald trump jr.'imony about the meeting on june 9th at trump towers, if you look at his direct messages with wikileaks about the hacking and theft of the clinton emails, if you look at his answers which are evasive and contradictory and if you sat in that room as i did and watched his body language, what you see is growing evidence of russian involvement in the campaign but also the knowledge and participation of the trump campaign in that interference. >> i want to get to that because we do have those transcripts now courtesy of the judiciary committee. they released 2,000 pages. the question to don junior, does your father use a blocked number on his cell phone or any phones that you call him on? he says i don't know. the question is, so you don't know whether this might have been your father? i don't. that is in reference to these blocked calls. we have a graphic on june 6th there was a four minute call at 27 p.m. at 8:40 p.m. there was an 11 minute call. all of these cam from a blocked cell phone

in your assessment of that transcript of 2500 pages from the trump tower that struck you that donald trump jrether his dad knew or not? >> the interest in this meeting, of course, is because of the question of collusion. whether trump associates were amenable or open, receptive to any help from russian agents. and what we don't know is what donald trump jr. knew or didn't know. we thought it was interesting that he said he can really talk to his father about it. pour in various exchanges, and he didn't know or couldn't recall. i think this provides a more detailed assessment of that meeting, but still, i think there are lots of questions. i think the broader question of course is, when will this wrap up and what will come of it? you've had lots of indictments on russian meddling of course, but on the issue of collusion, you have lots of people asking when this will be answered. >> bret: i want to do around on north korea. >> while my thing is, special counsel is corrupt and there's a reason we are at the stage and finding no evidence going on, so it would be nice if we got to a conclusion. an

donald trump jr.' tells cnn the president's son was not interested and that was the end of it. is it? thanks so much for being with us. the second trump tower meeting, what do you make of the meeting? >> i think we now know why donald trump was so agitated over the weekend in the twitter storm about the mueller investigation. now the investigation is honing in on his son donald jr. what is he honing in on? illegal foreign interference which was apparently welcome by donald jr. it is against the law to accept foreign help in an election in the united states and against the law for a foreign government to interfere in an election in the united states. now we know not only russian interference but if not proved and of course operatives from israel offering to be of assistance. very troubling development. >> the "new york times" reports that the help was offered and donald trump jr.'s lawyer says not interested. that was the end of it. when i say offered this international sort of operative suggested that

donald trump jr. and trump campaign members were to get dirt on hillary clinton. but the transcripts also show how frustrated they became when that did not pan out. just take this excerpt from rob goldstone, who is the middleman who connected the trump camp with the russians. goldstone said i was waiting if there was some smoking gun, which was why i had been asked to do this, after a few minutes of this labored presentation, jared kushner who is sitting next me appeared somewhat agitated by this and said i have no idea what you're talking about, could you please folk as you bit more and maybe start again. i recall that she, meaning the russian lawyer, natalia veselnitskaya, began the presentation exactly where she had last time, almost word for word, which seemed by his body language to infuriate him even more. donald jr. told senate investigators he did not tell his father about the meeting. listen to this exchange donald jr. had about his july 8th stating saying the meeting was about russian adopti
