cnn's doni o'sullivan joins us live from ireland. how did this all unfold?ry, fred. we heard all week from these fishermen, essentially standing up to the russian government about 150 miles off the coast of southwest ireland here was where these russian exercises were due to take place in waters that are very, very important to the livelihoods of fishermen in this part of the country. those fishermen wanted to continue fishing during these exercises, which, of course, would have been quite dangerous. the russians initially said it would have been unwise for these fishermen to go out there. but now obviously the change in tune tonight. the russians agreeing to basically go further away from the irish coast and away from these fishing waters. i'm here with two of the fishermen who were involved in this story. patrick murphy, who is a fisherman, a representative body of the fishermen, you met with the russian ambassador. you spoke with the ambassador earlier this week. you got a result. you must be delighted. >> absolutely. this is all we wanted. we can give th

joining us now is cnn correspondent donie o'sullivan. having listened to just what those folks had to say here. how likely is it that this becomes reality? >> reporter: i mean, imagine how chilling that is if you are an election worker, an election volunteer in arizona, hearing from people there who are running to take control, to have authority over elections in that state, and they're saying they want to lock people up. they believe in qanon conspiracy theories. look, it's very, very concerning for people we spoke to on the ground in arizona, people, certainly democrats, have a real sense that this is the major issue of 2022. because these elections are going to then play directly into 2024 and how those elections are overseen. look, it's not just happening in arizona. take a look at these numbers from the "washington post." they did a tally across the country. they found at least 163 republicans who have embraced the big lie that are now running for statewide positions that would give them some authority, some control over elections. y

cnn's donie o'sullivan reports on how war games by the russian navy were pushed further out to sea. >wn bear, a fishing village at the southern tip of ireland, fishermen have been making international headlines all week, for standing up to russia. they learned that the russian navy would be conducting military drills, operations in the sea, about 150 miles off the coast of ireland here, later this week. the fishermen were concerned about that, because they said it would disrupt their livelihoods, disrupt the fish stock and the fishermen told the russian ambassador here in ireland that they planned on going about their business, that they planned on continuing fishing, even through these drills. the ambassador, the russian ambassador suggested that that would be unwise, even dangerous for the fishermen to do that. but a change in tone tonight from the russian embassy. here's a statement that they put out, saying, in response to request from the irish government, as well as from the irish south and west fish producer's organization, that is the fishermen, the ministry of defense has mad
