donna rapado joins us in the neighborhood where it happened. >> reporter: it's very scary. the girl was walking right here where i'm -- behind the street. this is pompano beach high school, one of several in the area. many students walked out here. we spoke to some of them and some parents and will tell you what bso investigators say and who they are looking for. >> reporter: this girl saved her own life. >> reporter: here is a sketch of the guy the broward sheriff's office is trying to -- says tried to kidnap a 13- year-old girl. the teenager was walking home for school on northeast 14th avenue on 4th street when the would-be kidnapper pulled up in a tan suv. the men asking the girl where him and kept walking. then in a bold move he got out of his suv and grabbed her by her waist and tried to shove her inside. she fought back. >> this girl did everything right. she screamed loudly and kicked and freed herself and then she immediately told her mother and bso deputies what happened. >> reporter: this happened right across from pompano beach high school one of several nearby
