. >>> an avalanche killed a snow border at donner ski ranch today. search teams recovered the body of a 50-year-old man but they have not released a name. the resort's operations director says the avenue lafrmg occurred in bounds and was set off at about 9:30 this morning. nearly five hours later the man was found buryed in more than two feet of snow. the victim's friends say they reported him missing but it took ski patrol several hours to conduct a full search. >>> and we had a lot of rain scombred there's more rain coming. take a look at the rain fall over the last three weather systems. santa rose sa coming up on over 4 inches of rain. san francisco up to almost 2 inches and san jose coming up on an inch and a half. that's over the last three day sos what does that do for percents of average? check it out 172% of average in santa rosa. we're looking at 143% of average in san jose so it is wet out there, and it has been wet out there. i've got another system i'm tracking right here. this system is going to roll in as we get into tomorrow afternoon

in fact on monday, a snowboarder was killed during an avalanche at donner ski ranch.ed under two to three feet of snow. also on monday an experienced member of the ski patrol was killed in alpine meadows. that, however, was intentionally triggered by an explosive charge designed to alleviate the avalanche danger there. and over the weekend, two skiers were injured during an avalanche at squaw valley to. give you an idea of the power of an avalanche we have individual yof a controlled avalanche taking place in british columbia. a wall of snow as you can see, could overwhelm any skier. experts advise

. >> dan: breaking news, donner ski ranch was closed for the day after the death of a snowboarder from an avalanche he may have triggered. sheriff's deputies got a call about snowboard they're may have been caught in the avalanche. he was riding above the avalanche. the victim is described as man in his 50s from the truckee area. >> a water main break in mill valley left 20 homes. a sheet is partially covering the avenue. utility crews excavated the 12-inch water main and currently repairing it. it caused damage to the road. it made part of it sink a couple of inches. >> dan: more than a thousand registered nurses are walking the picket line at nine bay area hospitals run by sutter health systems. the walkout against sutter health, it's the eighth walkout. the union contracted has been contentious and negotiations have been going on for 18 months. sutter health says it was calculated to cost them extra money because they have to pay fill in for the enitre holiday week for just gist one day of work. >> carolyn: small businesses in the bay area are hoping for a lot of late sales. >> peop
