abigail doolittle has been watching the markets as we get earnings today. >> indeed. right now investors appear to be wishy-washy. we have the major averages unchanged. mixed trading action. we have the dow and the s&p 500 slightly lower. we have the nasdaq, though, on pace forjet another record high. putting in another interday record high on the day with lots of tech earnings. overall, after the big gains, the s&p 500 into yesterday had gained more than 2% since last week. looking at consolidation. let's hop into the bloomberg and take a look at the i map. this is a great way to get a quick snapshot of what's happening sector-wise. we're seeing it divided pretty evenly between red and green. up top, consumer discretionary being helped by amazon ahead of that company's report tonight after the bell. and then on bottom, energy, the worst. down 1.9%. not surprisingly in sympathy with oil. we take a look at an interday chart of oil. we see that oil is down sharply on the day. down more than 2.5%. down for a second day in a row. in fact, hitting levels last seen about a
