let's take look at ultimate doppler this is over the last 12 hours. we've been talking about that clipper. that has arrived and that really hasn't provide add lot of snow for our area. we talked about how only to expect nuisance activity during the day. the opening act if you will. but energy from that clipper will be transferred to the coast. take a look at earlier in the open waters of the atlantic you can see some lightning. we'll watch some of that convective activity unfold overnight tonight. so watch the clock and watch how this area of low pressure intensifies overnight. but with that said there's going to be a sharp cut off between the heaviest snow in that pink shaded color and also the lesser amounts of snow in that blue across our area. so we're talking totals from two to maybe 16-inches of snow over our entire viewing area. so location is key as well. but for the philadelphia area it look like we'll have a solid six to 10-inches of snow but the higher amounts continue north and east of the city traditionally with snowstorms it's north and

this is stormwatch 7 doppler radar and north of the metro area healthy patches of snow. in fact, the areas in blue showing a little heavier elements. i want you to pay attention to the motion. these snow bands are moving from south to north and that tells us this snow is coming from the upper level low in west virginia and has nothing to do yet with the developing storm off the coast of the carolinas. a little bigger picture might put this into perspective. we have snow across western pennsylvania west virginia upper level storm center that is going to yield its energy to the coast and weaken is spinning counter clockwise so you see how the moisture is coming up like this, the precipitation involved with the developing storm is moving this way at the moment. but later this afternoon and this evening, once this coastal storm really starts to intensify, we'll start to see the winds turn more to the north and northeast until the snow develops. we'll start moving to the south and we'll get it from wrapping around the storm center. that's a real tricky proposition sometimes b

>> right now lucy we're analyzing ultimate doppler.est bands of snow still setting up shop down the shore and also offshore but we're watching them try and peak their way a little farther inland and that will be the case overnight tonight with the progression of this storm. also, note offshore you can see some of that lightning so it will be intensifying and that could mean some of those heavier bands will make their way a little farther inland. but right now as we look at ultimate doppler the heaviest of the snow is in monmouth as well as ocean county. it continues to try and pinwheel a little farther inland but a battle. we're looking at drier air as you move little farther inland and also we still have some snow on going to our south. so once this snowfall dissipates we'll see a better idea of how that snow will work itself in a little farther inn land. with that said, light snow right now in trenton also around philadelphia moving toward chester and wilmington moving into burlington county. some of that snowfall has begun. but the
