vance, doreen? >> we want to take a look at the driving conditions and amelia segal is out in the storm team 4 by 4 and on 270 near clarksburg. amelia, what do you see? >> well, vance, it's not good out here. completely snow-covered roads and it's hard to determine where there are lanes at this time. sometimes the rumble strip helping to determine that. let's take a live look outside and at greatly reduced speeds and we're traveling at 25 miles an hour and that's the only option and completely snow-covered roads and the winds are starting to pick up and we're noticing the wind to blow around and the temperature continues to drop. we are now down to 20 degrees. so we've dropped ten degrees over the course of today. you can see on the side road we have some plows down and not treating the road with any salt and they don't actually even have their plows down at this point as we've been driving around today we noticed groups of plows treating the roads and you can see at this point already only a few ho

. >> reporter: hey, doreen. when a german town woman, state delegate, kathleen delay said she was encouraged to draft legislation to keep that from happening again and we spoke with many gun dealers who say that's not the answer. they need to enforce the rules and laws that are already on the books and they say in doing so that can help prevent them from selling guns to the wrong people. there are many reasons why law-abiding citizens choose to buy guns. earl curtis hears about it every day. >> people are more afraid than anything else. with the terrorist shooting in california people want to learn how to handle a gun safely. >> reporter: curtis is the president of blue ridge arsenal. he says sales have increased ever since tuesday when president obama revealed a series of executive actions to prevent mass shootings. obama said anyone selling guns on the internet in stores or at gun shows must be licensed. he says a background check must be conducted and he said more will be done to help the mentally ill. curtis

>> doreen, police have been looking for melvin latney of southeast washington for weeks now. during that time, allegedly he kept committing crimes and terrorizing neighborhoods across the city. >> police say this case shows just how important surveillance video is in tracking down crime suspects based on tips from the public. investigators posted video showing 25-year-old melvin latney in stores and at a metro station. they had his picture, but they couldn't find him and latney's crime spree of five sexual assaults and robberies began november 24th when he walked out of a halfway house. his most recent attack happened on december 31st. >> those crimes which included attacks on five women in which he raped -- attempted to sexually assault and rob those women in various different areas around the city. >> reporter: news 4 profiled latney's first in a serious of attacks when he knocked down a woman, groped her and stole her bag on eighth street in southeast washington on november 24th. the video showing suspect melvin latney led to a tip and his arrest yesterday. now chief cathy

jim, doreen? >>> chris lawrence, thank you. a garbage truck was involved in a crash that left a woman dead in prince george's county. tonight police believe the driver may not have realized they hit somebody. >> the woman that was killed, her pickup truck ran into a pole off the beltway on pennsylvania avenue in forestville. >> chris gordon is at police headquarters with what's being done to find that driver. chris? >> reporter: well, doreen and jim, investigators want to talk to the driver and first have to find the truck that was involved in this fatal hit-and-run accident. the pickup truck hit a heavy metal sign pole killing the driver. police say she was exiting the beltway onto pennsylvania avenue when her pickup made contact with a trash truck. causing her to lose control and hit the pole. police say the trash truck left the scene. they describe it as green or blue with red writing on it and damage to the passenger side. but police say they may not be able to charge the driver with hit-and-run. >> we believe at this time

raid doreen brown now from beijing. >> tuesday was another bad day for chinese stocks. the shanghai, shenzhen and hong kong markets were down. monday, shanghai closed down around 7%, and shenzhen more than 8% and hong kong 3%. the reason for the continuing jitters in the market i think is pro bowl this. on friday, restrictions over the selling of shares are do to end. these restrictions were imposed during the market tu turbulencet the summer. if these restrictions were eased, it would bring stocks down further. the chinese regulatory commission on tuesday issued a statement saying they would take action to stop big shareholders selling their shares in big blue think companies. these companies want to sell shares because they have no faith in their companies at the moment so trying to flog them off to individual investors but the government wants to protect small investors. we've seen plenty of evidence on tuesday of government intervention in the market. they've been buying up shares in blue chip companies, but the day to watch this week is going to be friday. >>> why
