good evening i'm doreen gentzler. >> and i'm jim rosenfield in for jim vance. police say these robbers will break in even if you are inside. jackie bensen reports. >> reporter: imagine the creepy feeling of knowing someone came up on your porch at 4:00 a.m. tried the door handle and walked away. that's what happened at a home on wheat ridge drive the night of may 23nd. the would be burglar who broke into a car in the destroy realized a security camera was mounted on the porridge. since the end of april that there have been a series of 18 break ins to homes in this neighborhood. some have occurred while residents were asleep inside. cars have been broken into or stolen. >> this is a spree of crimes of opportunity. many of these if not all could have been prevented had the homeowner or vehicle operator locked the car door, put the garage door down or locked the door to the homes. >> residents are on edge. >> we heard a car alarm go off and my husband was like go look out the windows. our cars were fine but we heard the alarm go off. >> reporter: police say with c

. >> and i'm doreen gentzler. the national weather service issued heat advisories from vermont to virginia. we have team coverage tonight on the heat and begin with chief meteorologist doug kammerer. >> tomorrow temperatures will be 20 to 25 degrees warmer than yesterday. looking outside right now the temperature is very warm, 80 degrees with winds out of the south at 6 miles an hour and the dew point at 73. the humidity up to near 80%. feels on the warm side out there tonight. outside today, high temperature of 88 in washington, 09 in leesburg, 9 in charlottesville. that heat will make its way into the region. still warm. 76 in fredericksburg. it will be a warm and humid morning tomorrow. tomorrow afternoon a heat advisory for a heat index between 100 and 105 and that is just getting things started. we'll talk more about the heat coming up. >> reporter: right now in chinatown in d.c. and i tell you as doug told you it will be very hot over the next couple days. health experts recommend that you be careful. >> it'

. >> i'm doreen gentzler. roger clemens has been acquitted on all six counts of perjury in his performance enhancing drugs retrial. the verdict was returned after ten hours of deliberation. pete williams has the latest. >> this is a huge victory for roger clemens and a big setback for the government. it's telling the trial dragged on for nine weeks. the jury took a day's worth of deliberations to find him not guilty on all counts. >> i put a lot of hard work into that career and, so, again, i appreciate my teammates that came in and all the e-mails and phone calls. >> now, we don't know exactly why the jury reached that conclusion. there were problems with the case, mainly the main witness, his former trainer. he's the only person who claimed to have seen roger clemens take steroids and human growth hormone because he claims he injected him with the drugs. there were a number of problems with his testimony and credibility. he's been found to have lied in the past. the jury may not have believed him. some juror
