tonight, joining us for our discussion is historian and biographer doug brinkley. as a person who has done a number of powder fees on 20th-century political figures, what interest you about ross perot? >> he has a pioneer spirit in him. he harkens back to the 19th century. he is not politics as usual. he cares about the country. patriotism has become a cheap word. ross perot is a super patriot. he is less interested in money and politics than he is in doing what is right for our country. this comes from his naval academy background, constant service to his country, looking for pows in vietnam. the clip you just ran tells you -- the national debt. i think we were like $3 trillion in debt. today, we are at 15 trillion. when he was talking about the sucking sound of jobs leaving america due to nafta, it is probably on the left, the issue that most disturbs the middle-class americans is that jobs have gone overseas, many of our towns in the midwest, south are languishing right now. >> the issues he talked about are being echoed by the tea party people on the right and

. >> this has been, doug brinkley, without a doubt, no matter how this particular fight turns out, alreadyyou look at the federal courts, it is a major trump legacy, like it or not, people watching at home, this has been dramatic. he already has confirmed two justices to the united states supreme court. 53 court of appeals judges, 161 u.s. district court judges, our grandchildren will be living in america where trump judges are having a dramatic effect. now he gets the potential for a third and not just a third, this would shift the balance of the court. it is a very narrow 5-4 conservative majority now with john roberts trying to play middle man and power broker if you will. a 6-3 conservative majority would do what for america at this moment? >> well, this is a big moment for donald trump. the one thing he had to brag about is what you're suggesting his judiciary record. the fact that he already has two supreme court justices in with kavanaugh and gorsuch and now a third, this is suddenly becomes what trump can say is my legacy. so the death of ruth bader ginsburg has created a massive o

. >> douglas brinkley is also joining us. doug, your thoughts on her passing? >> well, it's an incredible loss to america. i think of her and when i teach about her legacy at universities, about being this women's activist. i mean, she was extraordinary fighter for women's rights. when bill clinton sell leected nobody thought she would be picked in '93. they were looking when biron white was going to be retiring and the thought it would be -- nobody thought about ginsburg but hillary clinton knew all about ruth bade er gich e er gi. she told her husband president bill clinton, look at her. she's something extraordinary. it's a fun snow story because bill clinton didn't want the press seeing it so they told her to come in on a sunday evening to the white house, wear just regular clothing almost to be inform and there was bill clinton watching football game all dressed in a suit and tie and she was like in lounge clothes and she was deeply embarrassed but it took bill clinton about ten minutes to realize that hillary clinton was right that this was the winner and
