have seen have gotten rowdy at a series of town hall meetings that discuss what the president and congress plan to do with your healthcare. joining us, dougoin and congressman doug hyde. doug, i will start with you. >> which one? >> shannon: , that's right. we have two dougs. >> yes. >> shannon: doug high, let's start with you. is this something the gop can capitalize on or they aren't playing defense? >> certainly the democrats are on defense on this. there is a real double standard played here. two years guy, four years ago, democrats said that dissent is patriotic and now they are upset about it. i get e-mails and mail from congressional offices and offices. the only e-mail i got urging me to be involved in the healthcare fight is an e-mail from president obama that he sent out to his e-mail list. he came to fame as a community organizer is and now the democrats are upset about that. that is really troubling. >> shannon: are these legit protests. >> people don't turn out unless they care and by all rights the american people in the polls are really turning against their healthcare plan. that being said there is a massive amount of insu

halls where democrats are trying to talk to the congressmen. constituents show up and want to shout it down. it seems to be inspired in part by some republicans in washington but also, dougsh limbaugh in his radio show today described barack obama as -- he compared him to adolf hitler and said the democratic party was like the nazi party. is that appropriate? >> well, i didn't listen to what rush said so i can't comment on that. what i will tell you is we've heard a lot of carping from the democrats about organizations opposing this. the democrat national committee put out a web ad yesterday and a statement criticizing organizations. at lunchtime i got an e-mail from president obama for organize america. >> but isn't calling -- julian, there's a lot of conservative websites running essentially a shot of president obama where he looks like heath ledger, the joker from "batman" and it says socialism. he has sort of a white scary face s that appropriate? does that cross the line? >> well, again, i think there are crazies in both parties. i think the problem is in the republican party the crazies have gained a little too much legitimacy, and i think that there's nothing wron
