chief meteorologist doug hill is here now with the forecast details. doug. doug: let's start with the big weather story, harvey, getting closer to the spinning circulation back over the waters of the gulf. let's get over to the big picture and share the details. mentioned at the top of the cast that the heavyiest rain bands have shifted well east of houston but what may happen and the fear is as this center of circulation gets over the open waters it will re-energize, the flow of moist air. you can see these new feeder moving to the northeast. so they will be back in the houston area we think later this afternoon as the torrential rains coming across the louisiana coast. so the storm speed 50-mile-per-hour gust, 40 sustained. moving now to the southeast at 5 miles per hour but will turn to the northeast pretty quick liefer the next 48 hours and eventually turn into a low pressure center. the rainfall potential is incredible. another 15 to 25 inches on spots we already had. and now we have this curious blob. not quite a tropical storm. the air force will inve

chief meteorologist doug hill has the forecast. some people will have to dodge showers out there tonight. doug: it's a possibility. but the majority will have dry weather. nothing in the national harbor. sunshine. fair weather clouds. go to the doppler radar and let's talk about the areas that have the rain in most in the mountains expected west of 81. closer to the metro area, area of the showers and thunder south of baltimore area. that is drifting southeast to anne arundel county. so isolated shower. a little one popping up now not far from silver spring. so a couple. but by later this evening by 7:00 or 8:00, i don't think there will be concerns at all. we'll zoom in and show you detail of the showers and the thunderstorms. baltimore to anne arundel county. that is it. we will keep an eye on it. it's warm, muggy and summery for the night out. we'll take a look ahead for the evening hours. the city open at rock creek. weather should be fine. muggy temperatures in the 80's. overnight we drop to 66 and 73. clear skies. if you like

alison: for that we go to chief meteorologist doug hill with more. hi, doug. doug: the forecast has been simple. pop-up storms, humidity. the biggest problem is finding out where they will pop. today is north of baltimore. flood warning and severe warnings for the eastern suburb of baltimore city, to the county and western shore of chesapeake bay. notices from the f.a.a. indicate significant delays in departures from reagan national and arrivals and departures from the metro new york city area. they are getting hit with a lot of storms. let's zoom in baltimore. active storms drifting north east at 5 miles per hour. farther south we have action, not much we have a window of an hour or two where we could see it pop up low callly but nothing yet. temperatures right now are mostly in the 80's to 90 in the area. 90 in washington and leesburg. 91 in warrenton but it feels warmer because of the moisture levels. the future cast indicates possibility of more storms popping. things will settle down tonight. tomorrow we'll replay the whole situation and again on friday.
