yesterday doug jones and jay haigler were telling me that he is one of their first. cofounder of black scuba divers affiliate. he has been a certified diver since 1992 and has logged over 900 dives worldwide. he is a patty dive master and member of the black scuba divers hall of fame. he holds nautical archaeological society certificates and a specialty in underwater archaeology. he is an american academy of underwater sciences scientific diver and volunteer for the national oceanic and atmospheric association and national park service. over the last 16 years he has assisted in training divers to become an advocate underwater archaeologists. he received a bachelor's degree in electoral engineering from howard university as a member of a national engineering honor society. he went on to receive his masters degree in electrical engineering from the polytechnic new york and is currently the chief electrical engineer for nasa at the kennedy space center and has been with nasa for over 30 years. also i would like to welcome back mr. jay haigler. thank you for joining us.

doug jones. when jug jones, a lot of white repugnance at white people from other states voted.he white secretary of state for alabama said that's nonsense because we have voter id laws in alabama. that's when i became a big believer. let's bring on voter id laws. it would protect black people. when you have these white folks come up with these tactics, we've got voter id laws. host: that is sean in baltimore, maryland giving his thoughts on the voter id aspect. those thoughts were expressed in a recent house hearing, taking a look at the voter id issue. it featured the chair and ranking member giving their perspectives on voter id changes. >> since the supreme court can 2013, a number of states have adopted very strict voter id laws requiring voters to present a qualifying voter id in order to vote. some did it immediately after the court decision. voter id laws of been shown to disproportionately burden minority voters. that is a demonstrated fact. i don't believe that many experts would dispute that. voter id laws have been shown to disproportionately burden minority voters.

doug collins says he's not running. burt jones way back in july of 2015 he was supporting donald trump, trying to get burt jones to run for governor. he was at mar-a-lago meeting with trump last month, the former president made it clear he wanted him to run for governor. burt jones says i think i'd rather run for lieutenant governor, it's an open seat and that's what i'm told, that he's very much leaning in that direction. it's a real failure of the former president to really play kingmaker in the republican party and it shows resilience too on the part of brian kemp who resisted those calls from trump late last year to somehow change the results of the election. he remains somewhat popular, even among republicans who are pro-trump in georgia, and it's hard to topple a sitting governor in a primary. >> interesting point. we can put up on the screen some of the tweets, the scornful, awful tweets the former president said about brian kemp, the hapless governor of georgia, who's the worst governor, he calls kemp a disgrace to the peo
