meteorologist doug kammerer joins us from the weather center with the latest. >> it's about time that something else starts to take the blame as far as the cold is concerned. let's not talk about the cold anymore. now we have some snow moving in here. let's take a look and show you what's gng on. yes, it is still cold. temperatures, 32 degrees with some sunshine out there. and those winds are still blowing. west northwest at 18. the windchill today, around 20 degrees. those winds will die down overnight and into the day tomorrow. outside, temperatures in frederick around 28 degrees. 25 in hagerstown. still very cold there. down to the south, quantico around 33. look at fredericksburg, around 37 degrees. windchills though, still in the teens in many locations. especially to the north and we. sterling and baltimore coming in with windchills of 18 degrees. we do have that winter weather advisory in effect for areas down to the south. it does include areas like southern fauquier county, saint mary's county, even calvert county into maryland and other areas to our south including frederksb

we begin our coverage with doug kammerer in the weather center. doug, how much and when? >> you're right, it's not going to be a whole lot of snow, but the timing, which i mean the last couple of days, could pose a problem, because even though we're getting one to two inches, that one to two inches could stick to roadways and cause proble early on. clear skies right now, wind chill of 16, still, so we're still dealing with a very cold atmosphere. 21 in fredeck, 19 in hagerstown, 21 in sterling. a wind chill of 7 in manassas. very cold tonight. it will be very td tomorrow morning, and that's when the snow is supposed to start. the snow will be making its way toward us. you can see it moving through thohio valley. that's why we have the wint weather advisory, something different than earlier that has now been pushed to the north. including montgomery county, prince george's, other parts of northern virginia as well for the potential of up to two inches of snow. once again, this will stick on the roadways and that's where we could see our problems tomorrow. jim? >> doug, tha

let's take a look with doug kammerer in the weather center. >> some of that coming down on a moderate clip, maybe even on the heavy side for the time being. any time you see this orange shoe in the sky, you may think about snow, and that's exactly what we have out there. current temperatures with 24 degrees with light snow falling in the d.c. area. look at the wind chill. around 12. look at the snow. a band of lake effect snow making its way along the potomac river. the areas seeing the heaviest snow are loudon county, montgomery county and bethesda. some areas mayick up a coating of snow and it may make slick spots on those roadways, so give yourself some extra time tonight. wind chills down into the single digits already. wendy? >> this is a wacky december out there. this cold with those high winds is a brutal mbination, and you don't have to be out there long to feel those effects. jackie bensen is in rossland. tell us about it, jackie. >> there are some snow flurries here in rossland. the wind makes it feel much colder than what the temperatur on the thermoter reveal. >> with a wr

doug kammerer joins us live with the latest. >> i wou love to tell you there's some relief out there. unfortunately, i don't see it. and, yes, there is snow in the forecast. let's show you what's going on out there right now. temperatures have ayed in the 20s all day long. 26 degrees the current temperature out there. windchill right now 12 degrees. that's t way it feels out there on the exposed in. 12, look at the numbers. 23 in sterling, and 25 out towardndrews air force base. look at hagerstown, a windchill of 4 right now, 7 in sterling, 9 in clinton. out there toward the air force base. we're going to be seng some areas with windchills below zero tonight. the wind advisory has been extended through 10:00 tonight. it's just about our entire aea for the potential of wind guts over 45 miles an hour tonight. that will put our windchills into the dangerous area. that's why we have a winhill advisory to the north and west. this doesn't include northern falkeer county and portions of northern virginia. windchills could be between minus 10 and minus 5 overnight tonight. a very cold nit in

the worst is maybe yet to come, doug kammerer is in the weather center with the latest. >> the worst yet to come earlier today we did see some snow. it was early this morning, it did pose a lot of problems, especially around northwest washington where we did see a dusting snow. that dusting came on temperatures that were below freezing and any time you have that, there are is no melting of that snow. can you see it there, it did pile up on the roadways, it did cause problems this morning. i drove through midnight this morning. not too many problems. have you to slow down a little bit andake it in stride. 24 degrees, the current temperature out there right now. windchill, how about ten degrees. that's the current windchill around the area. lo at the numbers. manassas coming in at 21 degrees. the current windchills in the d.c. are 10. sterling out toward herndon, ashburn. 4 degrees in winchester coming in with a windchill of2. i think we can easily see numbers below zero tonight as far as those windchills are concerned. we're gog to be talking more about that, plus there are two chance
