meteorologist doug kammerer and you've been updating this forecast and things are definitely in flux. most certainly. we'll continue to see temperatures on the roller coaster, so to speak and yesterday close to 70 degrees and we're only in the low to mid-40s and a 25-degree temperature drop and now we'll see the temperatures go right back up tomorrow, but first the rain is going to fall and we're starting to see showers along the region and big traffic delays on 272 and more rain down toward the south and this is all moving towards the north and we'll continue to do so out ahead of this big storm system. this is a monster system. we'll have much more on this coming up in a few minutes and here's the rain and the snow back toward chicago. for us, it will be all rain, but there is some frozen precipitation very close to our area just up to the north and we'll talk much more about that and then it's the temperatures and only in the 40s and 40 in hagerstown and 45, d.c. and still 60 in virginia beach and the warm air moves back in before we finally set in to a colder period. we've got all

let's get to our chief meteorologist doug kammerer. we have got warm weather coming in. we have some rain and some fog. what don't we have this holiday week, doug? >> holiday-like weather and if you're looking for that it's not coming. we're not talking about any snow or cold. as a matter of fact, we are talking about record-breaking high temperatures and not just record-breaking, but shattering record as we make our way into christmas eve. let's show you what we're dealing with. we have light sprinkles around and down to southern st. mary's county and that's it, not a lot of rain right now and we are going to see rain on the increase right on through the day tomorrow and look at the rain coming in and this is with the frontal boundary making its way here and down to the southwest and that will all move into the region during the day tomorrow and we'll get quite a bit in the way of rain. the average high is 45. every day will be above average including christmas eve and christmas day. very close to records those days. we'll talk about the warmth. you know we're talking 70

. >> let's get straight to storm team 4 chief meteorologist doug kammerer with a look at all this extreme weather out there. doug? >> yeah, guy, the weather has really been a story all across the country especially in the middle part of the country with the tornadoes they've had out there, the flooding that they've had. nearly four dozen people have been killed by all the severe weather. this is one place, st. louis. take a look at missouri. the mississippi river. continuously flooding over its banks right now. going to continue to be that way. record-breaking flooding. this will be the worst flooding in parts of that region since 1993. that, as far as the weather community is concerned, a famous flood that happened along the mississippi over 100,000 homes were lost at that time. you can see what's happening right now. numerous homes will once again be lost as the mississippi continues to crest. it will crest in some locations at all-time record high levels. so once again, just a traumatic situation down there in that area. see the water up toward the middle and even the roof of some of t
