fox news correspondent doug mckelway coming to us live from the medstar washington hospital, he has the latest on the congressman's condition. a full update and good evening, doug. >> reporter: good evening, lou, and information from official sources here at the medstar washington hospital center continues to extremely spare and infrequent. in fact, the last full update we got from the hospital was at 8:15 last night when they announced he was in critical condition. the one exception to that was a one-word text message i got from the pio here about an hour ago confirming that he did undergo a third round of surgery this afternoon from which he is now recovering. our producer on capitol hill, tells us from nonhospital sources that steve scalise's wound is, quote, complicated. doctors are evaluating his condition in 12-hour increments. the bullet shattered his pelvis creating a host of internal issues foremost of which is bleeding. altogether we've got the shattered pelvis, damage to internal organs as well as damage to veins and arteries. president trump, along with first lady melania vi

peter doocy is at george washington university hospital and doug mckelway is that medstar hospital center. >> good evening. house majority whip steve scalise was brought here early this morning with a gunshot wound to his hip. this is a level one trauma center and it's close to inner-city neighborhoods where gunshot wounds are not at all uncommon. they know what they are doing here. after several hours of surgery, the hospital tweeted "representative scalise was critically injured and remains in critical condition. the other patient is in good condition." the other patient is crystal griner. she's a member of the u.s. capitol police force and was wounded in the ankle or the foot. among the visitors today was the chief of the u.s. capitol police force who said the other officer involved, mr. david bailey, did not require treatment. bailey is largely credited with bringing down the gunmen. they have spared a much larger loss of life. let's head to peter doocy. he is at george washington university hospital. >> relatives of matt mika just got here. they want to be by his bedside in the icu.

fox news correspondent doug mckelway is at medstar hospital with the latest on congressman's conditionou tell us? >> reporter: well, information has been very, very sparse coming from the medstar washington hospital center, only the third communication from them occurred just a few minutes ago indicating he would indeed need more surgeries. this is not a surprise to us given the nature of wounds stemming from a high-powered rifle. anybody who knows anything about high-powered rifle, it devastates human tissue and bone. what we know is the case -- but what they do in a case like this is stem the bleeding, stabilize the patient and subsequent surgeries try to do reconstruction in this case of the hip and any other organs that might have been damaged by this attack. but it's very unusual that he was labeled in critical condition late this afternoon in a tweet from the hospital about five hours ago, little more than five hours ago, when the initial reports and the immediate aftermath of the shooting we know mr. scalise was indeed hit, indicated he was in stable condition. we haven't heard

doug mckelway live in washington. >> this ninth circuit ruling was a surprise to no one. the ninth circuit is considered to be the most left-leaning in the country. they're holding the travel ban injunction. it included iraq from the bans and provided a means for immigrants seeking waivers. they cited a presidential tweet from june 5. the tweet read that's right, we need a travel ban for certain dangerous countries, not some politically correct term that won't help us protect our people. in citing that tweet, the ninth wrote "the president recently confirmed his assessment that it is the countries that are inherently dangerous rather than the 180 million nationals of those countries that are barred from entry under the president's travel ban." after the ninth opinion was released, sean spicer said the administration is confident the executive order is fully lawful and will be upheld by the supreme court. he suggested the president's tweeting is irrelevant to the legal issues at hand. >> the cases should be cited on the rule of law and on that. when you look at the law in

doug mckelway live at dulles international airport to tell us how it is going to go. d morning, bill. there is no sign of the confusion or chaos that we saw here at dulles international airport with the initial travel ban. there is not even any sign of immigration lawyers who are present who offer assistance to those who were detained during the initial ban. that is larr n. large part to the fact that the administration imposed a 72-hour delay before the implementation. this ban officially takes effect at 8:00 p.m. tonight. in addition to that the state department has now sent specific guidelines to embassies and consulates on how to interpret what the supreme court met by a bonafide relationship on who can enter from six designated. must have a parent, a child, son or daughter-in-law or sibling who is already in the united states before they can enter. also allowed entry are those who have already had visas before the travel ban, as well as business, student and journalist visa applicants who have proper documentation. another sign that things are going very smoothly
