doug thornell. and my friend, noel mcpore, who i have not seen for ages. ron insana, to you first. yesterday cnbc put out a report that said this jobs report is massively important. it will tell us where the economy is. this is a giant big, beautiful number. today, this friday. last friday larry kudlow was calling for rate cuts. pick your poison. >> this is a real issue. there's cognitive dissidence in the white house economic team with respect to where the economy is. the president has been praising this as the strongest economy in the history of the united states. that's not an environment in which you would lower interest rates, fear deflation or a sudden recession. the economy still looks good. jobless claims are at a 50-year low. those came out yesterday. 2,000 new claims last week. there's no need for a rate cut. the fed was wise to pause given what happened in the fourth quarter. the u.s. is outperforming by almost every metric. so we don't need rate cuts. the white house should be taking a victory lap without clouding the picture by saying we need more rate cuts. >> dr. gre
