cbo director douglas elmendorf. morning, i'm director of the congressional budget office and thank you for coming. up cbo has just released and date to our previous budget and economic projections. i will briefly summarize the projections beginning with the budget and turning to the economy than my colleagues and i will be happy to try to answer any questions you have. the federal budget deficit has fallen sharply during the past few years. it's on a path to decline further this year and next. later in the coming decade under current law, the gap between spending and revenues would grow again relative to the size of the economy and federal debt would climb. thee specific, we estimate deficit for this fiscal year will amount to $506 billion. it's about 170 billion dollars lower than the deficit in 2013. at 2.9% of gross to mystic product, -- of gross to mystic object -- roddick, it will be much -- of gdp, it will be much lower. we can see what happens if current laws remain unchanged. the baseline projections are des
