i am sure he is having a lot of fun. >> and this look like douglas hurley. >> douglas hurley, a marine colonel. he is flying as pilot on this flight. he is second flight. he is held by two guys in the white room, getting ready to go. number 4 is renee aaron. all the guys we talked about so far, usa employees. he has been with united space alliance for long time. 27 years in the space program, 40 launches and doing a great job. he had travis thompson's job. only three or four people are qualified to do that job and he is number one. in this flight he is number 4. he does a great job. he will be the hats technician when they close the hatch. >> you mentioned randy bresnick. when does he get on board? he gets on board fairly early? >> he gets everything prepared before the crew goes out to make sure all the gear is in place. a lot of things they don't bring them that we take for them. i did this job while ago. there are a lot of things, essentially triple check the cockpit to make sure everything is in place. he is the first one who gets into the vehicle as well as no. 3 to try to get thi

douglas hurley, aka chunky, was born in 1966, and he says he remembers watching the sky lab missions between cartoons growing up as a kid. we also have the only female, sandra magnus, born in 1964, from belleville, illinois. and she said it was a great life living in the suburbs, if you will, but having the access to the cities and being able to have a part of this history in her life is incredible. they're all expressing the same thing, this is a humbling experience for them, and they are so honored to be the crew of this final shuttle mission. i love that. and last but not least, a friend of "news nation," rick waldheim, who was on with us as well. from san carlos, california, worked as a flight test engineer for four years before applying to nasa and he was accepted on his second try. never giving up. and he says persistence is what has kept him going. >> i was in houston interviewing the crew for this mission. i was in the training simulator in which they train people, astronauts to ride the shuttle into space. every time i've interviewed crew members, they are such an exceptiona
