russian relations i'm joined now by retired army colonel douglas macgregor thank you so much for coming on. so let's start by talking about donetsk how do you see the instability of this region playing on the next couple weeks but i think this is an old problem that is only going to get worse whether or not anybody intended to do so do forces have been set in motion and these are not new forces in the sense to do we suddenly have a new cultural identity in the eastern and southern ukraine that's clearly russian but we now have a demand for recognition that the people that live in those areas are in fact russians not ukrainians and at the same time you have ukrainians in the west and in the north who are not russians so we've got to deal with this reality but we need to ask the people on the ground how they want us to do this and in a referee. is plan from a leavened what exactly will the people be voting on in this referendum it is that the necessary next oh i think it is but i'm not sure exactly what the question will be the question should be do you if you are living in eastern ukrain
