even down in ocean city on the boards 85 degrees. 84 in dover. 90 in easton. and 84 in the pax river area. throughout the day, a few clouds early this morning gave way to some sunshine, which because of the heat and humidity gave rise to a few light showers. another little shower heading right up the 95 corridor. but on the larger picture, what we can see is we take a look at the atlantic. nothing going on again with the tropics. even though it's really heating up out there, nothing going on at all. but something is going to be going on for us. now this is our wider eastern satellite picture. watch this area down here. as this system, which affected us during the day today, moves out of the way, giving a place for this one to go because two weather systems not occupy the same place at the same time. so this one is moving out. and we'll have pretty decent sky tonight. but then this system right here with all the moisture right there, that makes its way in our direct. once it gets here it's going to get stuck right here in the midatlantic which means hot, humid.

same in hagerstown. 81 in downtown and easton. 76 in dover, delaware. take a look the atlantic. much happening. normally, we've been having some tropical depressions or storms, but nothing is going on out there. we continue to watch the atlantic for any development of tropical storm activity. but nothing happening. what we are seeing across our region is some shower activity scooting along the coast, and also here in the baltimore area some showers and thunderstorms breaking out. down to the south, there it is right there. most of the shower activity down to the south and the west of us right now. but as we go through the evening hours, some of the storms, even though they're going to be moving just west of us, some of them could break out and make into it the baltimore area. maryland's most powerful radar, here is baltimore right there. this is over the past two and a half hours. you can see the showers and storms down near the waldorf area, orb south of waldorf, making their way towards the north. the majority of the activity is going to be tracking in that direction. but we c

of rainfall. 82 in downtown. 80 at pax river. 81 degrees over on the boardwalk and ocean city and dover, delaware reports in with 77 degrees. throughout the day, well, early this morning, look at the heavy rainfall that comes crashing through this area. the very small storms. but boy, heavy amounts of rainfall. and we've got some very heavy storms that have been moving through portions of carroll county and into baltimore county. those storms very small, but very intense. that area of low pressure that we're talking about continues to funnel moisture into the region as it moves on by the eastern seaboard and is heading right into new england with very heavy amounts of rain. they could see two to three, maybe even four inches of rain over portions of connecticut can, rhode island, as well as massachusetts. in the meantime, we've got showers and thunderstorms that are lurking back just to the west of us. right now here is the baltimore area. here is that one storm system that came through the carroll county region. it's now gone into baltimore county. just some light showers. but another

and dover, delaware right now 78 degrees. satellite picture throughout the day.ots of sunshine today. a few little light clouds during the afternoon. but really, for the most part for this time of the year, absolutely gorgeous weather. now on the larger picture, let me show you what is going on, and what is going to be going on. the high pressure that we had overnight and during the day today, a few little light clouds, and a lot of the clouds are going to be dissipating as the evening goes along. what we're watching is an area of low pressure that is going to be forming right down here. this little area of low pressure. basically, making its way on up the eastern seaboard and park itself right off the east coast. and that's going to give us a counterclockwise circulation of air, which is going to bring in that moisture that we're talking about for friday night, actually early saturday morning, setting up some shower activity here all the way down through the carolinas. speaking of the carolinas, look at the shower and thunderstorm activity in south carolina. the

dover, delaware at 72 degrees. and down on the boards at ocean city 79 degrees. throughout the day, we had some sunshine early this morning. then the clouds rolled in. we had some showers here in baltimore, but then the heavy thunderstorms developed out to the west of us, now moving up into pennsylvania. that's where the majority of the rainfall is. but that's not the whole story. take a look at the larger picture. we've been talking for the past couple days about these series of low pressure forming and moving along the coastline. here is a real good look at this area of low pressure that is now forming off the georgia- south carolina coastline, moving northward at one point in time it looked like this could develop into some kind of a tropical system. but that's not going to happen. it doesn't have enough support int the upper atmosphere on top of that. as it moves northward and passes the outer banks, it's going to run into much cooler water. and for any kind of a tropical system to form, it's going to have to have warmer water. but it is going to provide clou

on the eastern shore 86 in dover. 84 in ocean city. and 81 right now in easton. take a look at the satellite picture. early this morning we had brief showers move through the region. then a pretty decent day, though it was cloudy. then the thunderstorm activity marched across the eastern shore. and here is that other batch of thunderstorms down to the south of d.c. and also the showers and thunderstorms over pennsylvania. once this gets by the region, the shower and thunderstorm activity will become much more spotty. however, as we make our way over the next 24 to 36 hours, what we're going to be finding, as this system leaves, this system moves in, which is still going to give us some very warm temperatures, more sunshine during the day tomorrow. and not as much scattered shower activity. but possibility of showers still will exist. again, another look at our radar. what i'm going to do, you can see the lightning strikes over 3,075 lightning strikes just in the past hour and a half. what we're going to do is take the lightning off of there. there you go. so you
