robert downey jr.ck as the billionaire super hero iron man as the third installment blasts into theaters today. it seems all shell head hasn't lost any of his charm. in eight days, the movie has made more than $307 million overseas. if the movie gurus are correct, it could make more than $200 million in the u.s. just this weekend. our facebook fans seem pretty stoked for it. randy snow is one of the many pro iron man responses we've received. while my money won't be part of this iron man's haul, the great thing is there is something for everyone. let's talk about the movies we're excited about. i can't wait for only god forgives. the new money from the director who directed drive and valhalla rising. it is about a guy who runs a thai boxing front for his family's drug organization and has to go out and avenge his brother's death. he described it as a thriller produced as a western. all in the far east with the modern cowboy hero. looks really good. ryan gosling who toure has a big crush on. >> stop it.

it takes great with robert downey, jr.n particular he has this knack for almost having conversations with himself. he has some voiceovers. a lot clever, fast-talking very witty actor and it's a movie that has a lot of fun with viewer expectations. there's a point in the movie where he takes on a young boy to help him. you know this. i know this. this is the moment in any action movie it's going to go straight down the tubes. it's going to be cloying and tiresome and the little kid will team some guy but shane black knows this, too. so he consistently goes up to the line as the movie is going to get sentimental and irritating. it's a knowing ironic film. people who don't like movies like that probably won't enjoy that. but people who do, i think it's a good one >> bill: it's a presentedtrend in hollywood, thisese big action films with questionable one the of the thingses is the at a time doesn't am appeal to me because it's so divorced from reality. >> true. >> i don't need to go there >> more and more movies like this. >>

well i produced a film about five years ago called the soloist that starred robert downey jr and jamie fox it was the story of steve lopez and faneuil errors and as we were making the film we realized that that story as special as it was really didn't dig deep into the current situation in downtown l.a. with homelessness and so the director of the soloist joe wright and i decided to make a documentary about what really was going on on the streets of downtown l.a. politically socially. and our second unit director thomas snapper. grabbed the opportunity and helped us put together this film and we just. jumped on to skid row and spent lots of time there and with the help of danny who was involved also with the soloists we really got were able to meet a lot of people and and look in-depth into all the different facets of what's happening down there so danny what is the situation on skid row. well the situation on skid row is not much different than it was when we shot the solo is there are still about fifty one thousand homeless people in greater los angeles about thirty percent of those
