[ gunfire ] >> the man was being chased by officers when he got out of the car and opened fire and they returned fire immediately as you can hear from the video. the officers returned fire and the guy jumped back in the truck to get away. and officers later found him dead in the red pickup. investigators said the officers who shot the man were acting correctly in the decision to return fire. >>> a boy scout troop that disappeared in arkansas after a weekend trip is back home. the camp site was spotted by the national guard helicopters tuesday. chopper crews lifted out the group from the camp in the forest and flew them to the command post. apparently, the troop had become stranded in high water and they were waiting for the river to recede before trying to get across it.

it's set to kick off in downtown baltimore here at 9:30 this morning. the two brothers are accused of setting a dog that was called phoenix on fire two years ago. they were 17 at the time of the incident. police say the twins set the dog on fire and an officers used hersweater to put out the flames but injuries were too severe. the dog was euthanized at an animal shelter and the first trial against the brothers ended in mistrial. today prosecutors are going for rounds 2 on charges of animal cruelty and the mutilation and burning of phoenix the pit bull. once again, that trial is expected to start at about 9:30 this morning. reporting live in downtown baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >> thanks. >>> the latest on the case against the police officers accused kidnapping two 15-year- olds back in 2009. the detective greg heel hellen has been cleared of all charges. the decision was made yesterday afternoon. on monday a jury found two others guilty of misconduct but they were cleared of kidnapping. they were accused of picking up the teens in police van

baltimore. right now, though, you are good to go, quick trip from hayward to downtown. 15-minute drive. more traffic including a check of mass transit coming up. in the meantime, back to you guys. >> a lot people of traveling over the weekend. watch out though if you are heading over the bay bridge over the weekend. >> that's right. they will be shifting some of the lanes heading toward oakland. caltrans planning to change the eastbound lanes as they come off the bridge. some eastbound lanes will be closed during overnight hours saturday and sunday for this work and it will also cause a slight detour. the work all part of the process to speed up completion of the new span. if you are taking bart, you can expect delays between 20 and 40 minutes this weekend. one of two tracks on the transbay tube will be shut down. crews will be performing maintenance work and repairs on some electric cables. so expect delays saturday morning until 7:30 and sunday afternoon until 2:30 p.m. so if you are getting to a theater or any kind of performance or meeting someone for lunch, plan ahead definitely. >
