((shakala alvaranga)) the shooting happened in the 2100 block of sunrise avenue... near fremont and eastern. police say a hispanic man in his thirties died from an apparent gunshot wound. a woman is currently being held by police. investigators believe she and the victim ve apartment. they aren't calling her a suspect at this time -- but she has been detained so police can hear her side of the story. as for a motive in this case ... police say this is a neighborhood that has a history with gangs. the victim involved in the shooting has gang ties in the community. so they are trying to figure out if that played any role in what happened. craig joins us live just east of downtown las vegas by a few miles near u.s. 95 and charleston. >> reporter: good morning. we are in a neighborhood here and this is where a method throw officer tried to stop a vehicle they observed speeding and they say driving unregistered. take a look behind me because the investigation still unfolding here. it started at 11:16 last night. the officer spotted the car in an area of bonanza and nellis. then this continued to a neighborh vehicle but then at some point the driver of that vehicle doesn't stop and backs the vehicle up toward the officer's car. one of the metro officers fired several shots at the vehicle striking the vehicle but not hitting the suspect. nobody injured here. the officer and suspect uninjured. 18-year-old daniel richard. and that person now being held on suspicion of several charges. they haven't said which ones yet but one might be attempted assault of a police officer by using his vehicle to drive into the metro officer's car. that said, we have an investigation here into exactly why the officer fired the weapon and all of the c

out of a tiny kitchen in downtown las vegas. next week, that kitchen will be getting a major upgrade - thanks to the generosity of people who want to show our veterans some love. paul joncich is in the newsroom with the story. downtown las vegas and north las vegas reported winning jumps of more than 29 percent. police are on the look out for a man they say robbed half a dozen convenience stores earlier this month. police say lamar griffin is six foot one inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. police say he is a suspect in six hold ups at convenience stores between november eighth and november twelvth. he's wanted for six counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and six counts of burglary with a deadly weapon. anyone with information should call police right away. you can leave a tip with crime stoppers at 702- nevada's new execution chamber in ely is complete. but it won't be getting any use for a long time. governor brian sandoval says he supports keeping the death penalty even though there's a lack of execution drugs. the state is not actively pursuing the death penalty because one of the two drugs needed for lethal injections-- has expired. the state has not been able to find a company willing to restock its supply. more traffic headaches are on the way for valley drivers. the spaghetti c
