so numbers trended cooler with the 50's parts of the coast and 59 downtown. 50 in oakland with mid-40's and half moon bay and san jose. so the changes are in store with the fog to start out, partly cloudy this afternoon, and the cooler air mass transporting in throughout the bay area today, that will take us through the middle of the week and an upcoming weather system could allow for a few areas of rain. we need it. it doesn't look promising yet with high pressure still hang on and it is sliding to the east and it allows for more cloud cover and a couple of systems to drop from the north. through the rest of the day the cloud cover will thin out from time to time and we will call it cloudy and much the same open tuesday, and we begin to see a couple of areas of rain but most of the activity is offshore or in the north bay the form of sprinkles around cloverdale on wednesday and it looks like by thursday, still, offshore, and we are looking at a system of what we came a cut off load for the weekend and that could head from northern california to southern california with the policies o

smooth trip out towards the downtown oakland exit. that's traffic. back to you guys. >> smooth is good. thank you. 4:39 now. a much talked about muni pilot program gets in gear in san francisco. starting today, low income youth get to ride muni buses and the trains for free. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran joins us live with more. happy friday! >> reporter: advocates have been fighting for this program for years and it officially starts today. it will allow low and moderate income youth riders between 5 and 17 years old to ride muni with a valid clipper card. and already 20,000 children have signed up. here are a couple of basics. it's a 16 month program that costs about $1.6 million. it's designed to help 40,000 youth riders especially as the cost of bus passes are on the rise. right now, a youth pass on muni costs about $22 a month. now, it is a pilot program so after 16 months, transit leaders will reevaluate and decide whether or not they are going to continue it. but i'm sure that 16 months will be a good relief for these families taking part in i

they hit businesses in the downtown oakland area on 17th street. the vandals used glue to damage the locks at many of the shops. the president of the south of broadway business association says said the latest blue incident continues and ongoing strength of vandalism here. in fact one shop owner says that she is considering relocating. >> i should not have to do this. i want to do my business here. >> merchants say the they have no idea who is behind this. they just wanted to stop. >>police have identified a man who was killed last week at the richmond bart's station as a 34 year-old male. his name is raymond harris. harris was gunned down lester's in my outside the richmond are stationed. this is video from the scene. bart police saying that witnesses reported seeing one or two men running from the station, but no arrests have been made. police said that the shooting was sparked after an altercation. the fatal shooting was the third homicide of the year in richmond. lacher, the city recorded as low as #slater's in 11 years, with 18 people killed.
