can see all those headlights all that traffic right there is trying to get northbound towards downtown oaklandcrash is actually northbound 880 by that fifth embarcadero exit. it happened much earlier this morning and several lanes have been blocked ever since. the delays extend right around the oakland coliseum. we start to see them right around the 66th exit on our live traffic sensors. in the meantime big rigs are allowed to use westbound 580 and you can see why. 580 is moving a whole lot better than northbound 880 and even southbound 880 is hectic. it's been really slow southbound just from people checking out the accident scene over the center divide. so again, alternate 580 until they completely clear this accident scene, which they never actually issued an official traffic alert for. i'm not sure why. but obviously, the gridlock is there. and they have not even turned on the metering lights over at the bay bridge. it's because of all the commuters stuck in the backup through oakland. so it's a breeze on the other approaches to the bay bridge toll plaza right now including the eastshore f

the detectives say a 13-year- old boy carjacked this honda accord in downtown oakland from a 78-year-oldriver. police chased the car into west oakland. once they got to adeline and 29th streets, they hit the back of the honda to spin it out of control. the honda snapped a tree, hit two cars and landed on its side. >> as soon as the car flipped, there was at least 10 police cars here and they were all out and had their guns drawn immediately. >> reporter: you can see from this witness cell phone photo, police detained the 13-year- old. we blurred his face because of his age. sources tell me the teen was arrested earlier this year for a different robbery and that he has been arrested many times. detectives say he could be connected to some recent holdups. >> in the last week, we've seen several carjackings in our downtown oakland area. some of those carjackings have been associated with some of our street robberies. >> reporter: oakland and berkeley police are seeing a trend where people are stealing cars to use for armed robberies. they say the suspect's age is concerning. >> typically we

let's take a look. 35 degrees at the oakland airport, not that cold in downtown oakland, but it is a chilly start at the airport if you're headed in that direction. low 40s in san fransisco, low 30s for our inland east bay, walnut creek 32, outside your door, 31 in concord, 30 degrees in livermore, to the north bay we have below freezing temperatures. napa you're sitting right about 30, 29 santa rosa, mid-30s in novato. this is where we're seeing some of our chilliest temperatures as we start the morning. 36 degrees ceibas pall. when we get fog and freezing temperatures we get the possibility of freezing fog, and that just means super cool moisture sticking to perhaps those frozen objects. so that could make things a little icy, a little frosty, so that to be aware of, but temperatures will begin to turn around and hopefully that patchy fog not too pesky in your neighborhood this morning. we've seen it a little bit along the coastline and a little bit along the north bay and that's really been about it. i want to show you what's going on here. this ridge of high pressure not so easy

want to show you interstate 880, traffic is looking good and the traffic time in getting to downtown oaklands 5 minutes which is not a long time at all on this freeway and it's also looking good on 580. northbound 101 looks good on the capital expressway and lanes have reopened not after some tense moments and more more joins us from interstate 880 and panola. >> reporter: it took about a half hour to get this big-rig out and it exploded into flames after assembling a car accident. behind me you can see all lanes of 880 eastbound are opened right before the panola valley exit. it happened at 2:20 a.m. this morning and truck drivers swerve to avoid it and that's when things got ugly. it hit the cement and tuck a huge churning out of it and -- chunk out of it and send it spinning across the freeway. >> we are still not sure where that initial red honda ended up but the big-rig send it flying again -- sent it flying again. paramedics were out on scene and chp tells me it was the driver of the red honda and it rear-ended somebody and miraculously everybody survived. it will use the shoulder so i
