officers here in downtown oakland an emotional bart police chief of police gave us more details about the search that resulted in one b.a.r.t. officer fatally shooting one of his colleagues, officer thomas smith, seen in a new photo here just released this morning. we learned that it's possible that some or all of the shooting was caught on video as at least two of the officers were wearing lapel cameras as is required by the department. the question is whether or not those cameras were rolling. rainee tells us there were eight members of law enforcement searching the apartment in dublin. there were five plains clothed detective all looking for a stolen laptop related to a crime committed on b.a.r.t. property. they knew the person on probation wasn't at home at the time, but they were not sure if someone else was there. that's why they wore bulletproof vests. that's why they went in with their guns drawn. the door was unlocked. that's when they made their entrance. sometime during all of that one officer shot at smith killing him. this morning chief rainey tells us he will not name th

i'm here at the oakland police headquarters in downtown oakland or later they will hold a press conferenceme of the information that happened about the shooting happened six months ago. finally they may have a break in the case. on june 12th the this man was shot just one hour away from his 23rd birthday. he recently graduated from the university of oakland. he played pickup basketball game with some friends over at the emeryville area. he was driving back, and around 11:00 at night. he got into a small fender bender. got out of his jeep cherokee. we were talking to the other people in this accident. at that point altercation ensued and he was shot and killed. since then, there really have been no leads in the case. the family has offered a reward of $100,000. what we are being told by the oakland police department is later this morning at 1030, they're going to hold a press conference and released a photo of the vehicle they believe may be connected to this case. as i said it spent six months in the making. the family has not given up hope and have tried to keep this alive and increase th
