this is just before the eastbound 24 connector and the 980 connector to downtown oakland. it's not clear how the person ended up dead on the road, whether they were a good samaritan or if this person was a driver of a car that stalled and got out and got hit or someone was ejected. those types of details are not clear but one person is dead on the road. the coroner is out here processing the scene. there were at least three vehicles involved and at one point the entire westbound 580 was shut down all four lanes but the other lanes were reopened within the past 30 minutes. if you take a look to the left, traffic is stopped. it's stopped right now for some reason on westbound 580 just past harrison. chp crews are out there doing a full stop on traffic. i can't tell if it's debris or if they are making space for their colleagues down here just before the 980 connector. as far as when they will reopen the slow lane, chp hasn't given us an estimate. bob redell, "today in the bay". >> bob, thank you. we know you're tracking it as well as mike inouye. we're tracking conditions in
