san jose to explain why it's the perfect storm. >> reporter: that's right. these businesses are about 30 blocks away from downtown san jose, where most of the crowds gathered last night. but they bore the brunt of it when police moved the crowds from that area into this direction where people then started trouble. on yet another may 6th morning, san jose shopkeepers were picking up the pieces. >> it's a pain in the ass. it's not fair. >> reporter: weaver tax service was one of four businesses on alum rock avenue near highway 101 which suffered thousands of dollars in damage as well as lost time and the trouble of replacing broken windows, another was alberto avila's clothing boutique. >> i'm not sure why these people do that, damage other people's property. it's not right. >> reporter: it was the damage done by a small number of vandals part of a crowd of thousands who came to downtown san jose to celebrate cinco de mayo. at about 10:00, with throngs lining the streets, fights broke out. one man was stomped on the head. another was stabbed. seven people were arrested. is it police on motorcycles began pushing the

you can see a couple of lonely headlights there coming out of downtown san jose.orthbound lanes of 280. bart has at least 14 trains all running on time. but we'll likely be talking about this a lot this morning. over the holiday weekend bart is planning on doing repair work, maintenance work to the transbay tube. so basically, any trains running between oakland and san francisco they are saying to expect delays anywhere from 20 even up to 40 minutes this weekend. most of the work is being done overnight and in the morning hours. so pretty much from 8 a.m. until 2:30 in the afternoon, that's when to expect the biggest delays if you are planning on commuting between the east bay and the city. so watch out for that. that's scheduled to go all weekend long, saturday through monday. ace train one off to a great start so far this morning. muni metro, caltrain, otherwise mass transit off to a great start this morning. san mateo bridge, here's a live look. our sensors approaching the toll plaza look great. there was one 62-mile-per-hour there. across the span, so far, so

nbc bay area's george kiriyama is in downtown san jose with more on this. george? r: well, jessica, we have two police departments, san jose and palo alto, that were using these devices up until friday. well, san jose has already sent them back to the manufacturer for repairs. and tonight one dui attorney is attacking the credibility of these devices. for almost half a year the san jose police department has been using this device, the alco sensor 5, whenever they suspect someone's been driving under the influence. but now san jose pd has stopped using them because the device may not be accurately reading a person's blood alcohol content. that's alarming to dui attorney steve davidson. >> i've had clients who tell me they've had very little to drink and they sometimes get a high result. and it's because of problems with these kinds of machines. people are getting arrested wrongfully. so it's a big problem. >> reporter: the santa clara county district attorney's office has learned condensation can build in the device, giving an inaccurate reading, something the d.a.'
