jessica doyle is watching your money and your job. >> the latest unemployment report out today has gone down a couple of times recently. what do we expect? >> the tough job market remains one of the biggest challenge on the minds of americans. we're likely to get a little bit of good news on the front today. we'll definitely take it. the december unemployment report is due out after some promising numbers yesterday. for fourth time in five weeks, unemployment applications dropped, putting the four-week average down to its lowest level since mid 2008. as for today's report, the unemployment rate is expected to tick up to 8.7%. when you look at the unemployment rate over the course of the last year, november's numbers were the lowest yet after peaking in june. employers are expected to have added 150,000 jobs last month. >>> here is a local employer who is hiring. target plans to hire 200 new employees for a new store in crofton. there will be a job fair from january 9-12. it will take place at the comfort inn in bowie, maryland. >>> who doesn't want to be their own boss? three sisters ar

. >> good morning to jessica doyle. >> good morning to both of you. big week on wall street. big week for earnings. we'll get results from the likes of goldman sachs, ibm, intel, microsoft just to name a few. u.s. investors will get a crack to reacting to the downgrade of europe's bailout fund by s&p. u.s. markets were closed for the holiday yesterday but we're back in action today. checking the numbers. this morning, the dow stands at 12,422. not too far from the six-month high by the way. it lost about 49 points in trading on friday. the nasdaq was off by 14 and the s&p 500 was down by about six and a half points. the eu bailout funds dropped a notch. on friday, s&p downgraded the credit rating for france and eight other euro zone countries. s&p is saying it could upgrade if they offer more credit enhancements. french president nicolas sarkozy is shrugging off france's downgrade. >>> to have such economic problems as the bad news coming out of china. the nation reports its economic growth slowed at the end of last year. china's gdp grew at an annual pace of 8.9%, slow down
