it is not up to dpa to define their mission. their mission is defined very clearly in the city charter. and it can't be in name only. the only place that i see the words police accountability appear in those strategic plans are in the name of the agency. that is a problem. and then we heard from him that the annual report is inaccurate, misleading, unreliable and gives itself even a failing grade. the idea that these two reports, the strategic plans leave out these essential legally required tasks like two-year audits and 1421 while they are refining and defining their mission says it all. they need to refocus. they need to reorganize. if these things weren't concerning enough, let me tell you something, what happened yesterday. as you may know, we have an open request to dpa for all 1421 records. and as individual cases arise we make specific requests. i would like to -- i have copies of these two letters we got yesterday for everybody. we first got a letter yesterday in a specific case stating that sergeant daniel silver from

we have 76 useses of force nine dpa complaints, one internal affairs three on duty collisions. every district station is broken down with that being the fewest of the use of force with 11. park has four dpa complaints, five internal affairs investigations one eo complaint a total of 599 indicators for the district stations. this is a breakdown of all the units. and again the indicators will follow the officers, not necessarily by that unit. we have a total of 84. and we can see all the different breakdowns of all the different units. having seven uses of force but the airport having nine. so nine was the highest number of uses of force outside of the stations for this reporting report reporting period. on the last presentation, it was requested to have some type of personnel numbers corresponding calls for service numbers for the alerts and indicators and that's this page here. so we see the station with 42 alerts, 96 indicator they responded to 23,072 calls for service in this reporting period. they are not the highest number of calls for service. and we also don't have the hi

one of my concerns about independent dpa's they facilitate protection they don't have the competition authority or the competition lens and i think it would be through the broader societal deficits for us to not be able to apply that length and that thinking to the kinds of issues that we are seen in the digital space because a lot of them sound and competition and consumer protection at the same time in one area the ftc is working on improving is having a little more cross pollination between the two traditionally silos and where we have cases that indicate both areas. i know christine and i asked questions about how the staff on the other side see these questions and that is important to have that land to make sure that we are thinking through some of the innovation issues that are implicated in these questions. i think a lot of it and up being all the money questions in competition and in privacy where the dollar is flowing in my early flowing there and how are they being used and we can apply that analysis from both consumer protection and a competition simply. >> i would echo ess

and we are going to work with dpa tomorrow on those topics too. our nert volunteers, along with our loma prieta anniversary, they were doing the drill and they were helpful with that. they were practicing for a few months with that. so it was good to see them there. we mentioned classes in languages and also nert held a cantonese class this month. we are extending that. we have the program for the spanish person of nert. and we have classes that we continue to try to expand in our languages in the nert program. our planning bureau has been very busy with -- remember from last meeting we were talking about that. very few hitches with that. the vacancy for our members was published today. after that management will select the process. they've been working hard to make this a smooth process. and i think the members appreciated the transpartnerty how things are working with -- transparency with that. the chief has been busy getting feedback from them too. commissioner, pier 35 is gone. no more delays for that. we are working well with that. if you dri
