[ cheers and applause ] >> thank you! >> thank you! >> you know, you had the last group of people come out, and then we knew all four thai s.e.a.l.s came out, and everybody was standing there around 10:00 at night, and we actually took a moment and let the emotions come back in. and i think that it really kind of hits you in the feels, and we thought, man, we just accomplished something.

dr. richard harris, who's been described as playing an integral role, a critical role in the almost miraculousescue, and he, sadly, lost his father this week amid the incredible rescues that were taking place. so, this required just an incredible physical and emotional burden for everybody that was involved. and now people are kind of taking a deep breath and trying to collect themselves physically and emotionally after this incredible ordeal. alex and christine? >> yeah, this rescue mission obviously led by the thai navy s.e.a.l.s, but it was an international effort and really an incredible one at that. ivan, thank you so much. >> even the farmers around there, they're pumping out all that water from the cave system into the newly planted rice fields. those farmers lost their crops. they will be made whole by the government, we're told, but it just shows you how the whole region, really, coming together to save those boys. >> certainly, the country, and led by the king. and it is a country that is really centered on the monarchy, the military, on buddhism, and it is rallying around these boys

dr. richard harris an anesthesiologist.reveals that the shot is not just to relax the boy, it's to knock him out cold. >> i can't have him twitching around and you know when they start moving their arms moving around. there's potential for them to kill themselves. there was potential for them to kill us. it was much better for me to sedate him and keep him under. >> so it was basically an ultimatum from the british divers that they're not gonna do this operation, unless those kids are sedated. >> they absolutely made that a red line. like, "yeah, if we're gonna try this, and -- if it's gonna be successful, the kids need to be sedated." >> reporter: after receiving that injection, the first boy is out cold and ready for the next step of the rescue. just like in those training sessions, that full face mask is strapped tightly on. a single leak could be potentially fatal. the child is now fully prepped and ready to go, yet the veteran rescue diver is still assailed with doubt. >> i was confident of being able to take one of th

richard harris was the last rescuer to exit the cave. during a phone call with his n country's prime minister, he described what it was like during the harrowing moments. >> get this. dr. harris learned of his father's passing shortly after that rescue ended. our condolences to the harris family. i want to bring in an expert as we're seeing the first hospital video of the boys, there were tears of joy as parents waved to loved ones through glass windows. the boys remained isolated for medical reasons. doctors say everybody is healthy and they appear in good spirits. they're walking around, using cell phones. some taking time to wave to the camera. smiling. one boy bowed his head, expressing thanks. with us now, family physician. thank you for being with us. oxygen levels dropping, little food, risk of airborne bacterial or fungal infection. how surprised are you to learn the boys are all healthy? >> i have to say this is remarkable. i know all of us watching this in the last couple weeks, we're all completely overjoyed. as a physician, i have to say it is remarkable that they have come out, seemingly they're all healthy. >> what would you have have expected? >> well,
