dr. david samadi. chief of robotics surgery. good to see both of you. >> we start today with stunning new study about binge drinking in our country. it shows that in some parts of our country more than one-third of adults are consuming alcohol at they say dangerous levels. how much is too much? if you down a bottle of vodka or caber nay, one six back, two six packs? >> you're already way over it. >> who can handle that? >> i want people out there to know the number one problem is binge drinking, not study briking. studity drinking is greater than two drinks far man, greater than one for a woman. binge is five more a man. four for a woman. 8% of the time it's steady alcoholic type heavy drinking. i don't think people realize binge drinking is a problem. 90% of our youth who drink binge drink. they think it's fine. on the weekend they tie on one. it leads to car accidents and violence and sexuality transmitted diseases. it leads to liver disease and heart disease which i'm particularly worried about from binge drinking. your heart

dr. david samadi from lenox hill hospital. good to see you, docs. >> happy passover. >> same to you. we start with major advances in cancer research this month. a new treatment was announced for melanoma that works by quinn jebtsing tumors with viruses that are wired to destroy them. how does this work? >> this is very exciting. we've been talking about viruses to kill cancer. but now they're finally starting to make head way. fighting cancer is like a war. but we're getting to the point now where we have guided missiles, where they go right into the cancer cells. and the biggest problem that had to be overcome was to teach the body that these cancer cells are foreign. because before cancer hid in the body. and melanoma is not being attacked by the immune system. they're taking a herpes, a cold sore virus and getting it to be pecked up by the melanoma cell. once it's in the cell, the immune system sees it and says there's that invader and comes marching in with t-cells to destroy the melanoma. so you have a twofer. it's still early. it's still only tried in a hand ifful handful of pa

dr. david samadi is here to tell us why it's a good idea to remove the antibiotics. what is the reason we were doing this in the first place? there had to be a good reason? >> looking back, originally two decades before because of overcrowding of chickens and all the animals, it was to prevent infection that would go viral among all animal foods. over time we kept using them in order to make the products and chickens heavier and all about business and make them bigger and so that is how, it really came out. melissa: so what's the danger? >> well over the years, what has happened, not only these bugs and bacterias, to antibiotics among animals. they pass them on to humans. one of the things that we talk about is, the recent evolution of superbugs and resistant bugs in our hospitals among patients that is huge source of this. 80% of the antibiotics in this country is used to keep this food healthy in the animals. they're passing on to humans. so i think we're in trouble. tyson is basically talking about pulling these by 2017. hopefully that will go -- melissa: what you

dr. david samadi joins us to explain this.this i thought it can't be true. >> a lot of people don't know how important water is for our system. if you look at some of the signs and symptoms of alcohol versus dehydration, they're almost identical. the behavior changes, it affects your mood, memory lapses, headache. whether you're drinking a lot of alcohol or dehydrated completely. as drivers we can make the same mistakes. why is this the case? guess what? 75% of our body consists of water? you're more water than human. >> that i did know. >> when you drive and you're not drinking enough, it affects your whole system. from the brain it will make you fatigued. you don't concentrate well. coming down to your heart, it has to pump more blood out to get the fluid out. so your tachycardiac. your blood pressure is drop. your kidneys, they are not filtering the whole body. you are more prone to kidney stones. liver won't work as well. guess what? if you're dehydrated you will be more craving for sweets. your muscle cramps, why do you g

in david's field, if you're a urologist, you've got to go to somebody like dr. samadi. the american medical association said those diagnosis hard to make are the ones that the pathologists don't agree on. so in the gray area you may need a second or third opinion. if it's black or white. >> let me say something as a woman. if i came to you and honestly if you were the best known oncologist out there, i really don't care. if you told me i have breast cancer, i'm going to get another opinion and a third opinion. >> arthel, i will never, ever block you on that. i will always send my patients to a second or third opinion. i want that opinion to be somebody really, really expert. >> of course. absolutely. >> one final example. i have a hand surgeon that i think is tremendous but he's an artist but he operates on almost everybody i send him. so i say to the patient, maybe you should see another hand surgeon who operates on very few people so then you can decide, based on what the two are saying -- same thing with the breasts. but you can't go shopping around for a pathologist
