dr. dreyzehner: thank you, senator. a very important question as mr. mcgregor said in his comments about medical countermeasures and the uncertainty around having a market for those. dr. krug mentioned folks who are engaged in this area are highly committed, compassionate people, but they need certainty in the profession being there tomorrow. that has not been the case for the last 15 years. there's been a lot of questions marks raised about will the area that i devoted my life to, and really called upon after 9/11 and anthrax when we developed are more modern and responsive higher capacity public health and preparedness infrastructure, but those are festivals have evolved around that. many of them are now becoming senior. many are retiring and making decision as to whether they want to enter the field. will there be a profession for me if i decide to enter the field or to stay in it? all those things are really important. sustaining and maintaining funding is a very important. not pulling at the last minute to redirect it to some other priority is real
