[applause] so in 2014, the voters of san francisco overwhelmingly passed proposition c, the children and youth initiative. which increased the children and youth fund from three cents to four cents for every $100 of property tax revenue. adjusted the age limit to allow us to serve transitional age youth. extended the fund up to 25 years. and then most importantly created a coordinating council, called the our children, our families council. as the official steward of the children and youth fund, we administer the funds to community based organizations and public partners, public agencies to provide services for children, youth, transitional age youth and their families. today, dcyf is extremely proud and honored to share that we will be funding 294 programs throughout the city administered by 151 different nonprofit agencies, for a total -- get ready -- for a total of $377 million over the next five years. dr. j had done with gibson. in north winters carolina with dr. eaton and would train in the summer with my grandfather. that was intense training and intense competition on a daily basis. every weekend, there were tournament's. there wasn't a week that she was here in the summer that she wasn't playing a tournament on the weekend and training with some of the best male players that the african-american community had to offer. for 1951the stage where he started bringing kids for 20 years. stay in his house. with otherwould stay relatives of dr. johnson, as well as coworkers, nurses, and people in his medical practice. they were mostly african-americans, but there were some kids who trained that weren't african-american and benefited from his program and goodwill. i spent several summers here shortly before my grandfather passed away, i was part of the traveling team. he was a larger-than-life individual who impacted so many people's lives. when he was locked into the room or would go to a tournament, it was like the red carpet would be rolled out.

gibson played in u.s. nationals. arthur ashe came in 1953 and spent seven summers under dr. j 's tutelage. the court behind you is where it took place. this is where they spent hours and hours of time honing their considerable skills and working .n their dispositions a. johnson was my grandfather football player, student athlete and the going to medical school in national, tennessee. he did his residency in texas and was recruited in the mid-1930's to come to lynchburg. there were a handful of african-american physicians giving ready to retire and they were looking for very comparable dr. j raised his just so happens that dr. jay was the first african-american to receive privileges at lynchburg general when dr. johnson , it was not easy. dealing with all the changes that were going on at the time. he was one of these movers and shakers. hereally took on things started playing tennis which he learned in high school. really found love but the sport. i believe the court went and sometime in the late 1930's, early 1940's. he wasl for the end definitely a civil rights leader -- the boys were. h
