dr. ian smith. author of the four-day diet. always good to see you. tell us about this study.s of cap certificate are we talking about here? >> this is colorectal cancer. we've known there's relationship with aspirin and preventing someone's colon cancer. the issue with this study, it's the first time we've had a randomized control study that's looking at patients specifically to see if it can prevent colon cancer. this particular study looked at people with something called lynch syndrome, a genetic disorder. it found it can reduce their risk by up to 60% by taking daily aspirin. >> it's 60% for those with that increased hereditary risk. that's a huge number. is aspirin good for everybody in. >> this is the key. you know, aspirin is typically used to prevent heart disease consequences and so we typically use it in patients who are heart patients and so this study does not say everyone should go out and take an aspirin to prevent heart disease. aspirin can be dangerous and increase your risk for gastrointestinal bleeding and it can be fatal. always consult your physician. the
