dr. jackson >> good afternoon dr. jackson. i was very happy to hear the commission staff will make sure that the promises are kept. i would like to say in the report that was presented to you concerning southeast. when mayor brown in 1996 when he became the mayor of this city it states that the mayor brown by letter to the board of supervisors determined you see what that what happened we were set up by the voters. you know, it went, in fact, that we would get what we got. now, everything can't be explained to you in 3 minutes but i'm concerned about the statement that was your concern francisco can about the greenhouse. the greenhouse is part of 18 hundred oakdale under the commission. we were under the water department and dpw there was no sewers and you talk about that does not include the fact that we are still a commission the poimentsdz are done by the mayor of the city not by you and i'm not going to allow and accept accept the fact you want to displace the commission we knew nothing about the sewer when they built the

dr. jackson. >> yes, dr. jackson here. i have here in 1992, because you are not getting the facts. i am here to give facts. and in 1992, the vice president of the united states came to bayview-hunter's point. his name was dan quayle, and there was a program set up by the tenants called resident management council. some people in the audience were trained to be managers. and the men were trained to be plumbers and electricians, and all areas to take care of the public housing. who was supposed to run the public housing? the tenants. and the city is still receiving those funds. you hear the hope, the hope started in bayview. that program was to get the men and women off the drugs and put them in training so they would have stable jobs. i have the information here. i gave this information to the housing director. i mean -- no the president -- what are you baby? president of the commission. i had him make copies of it, because i wanted him to know. that so-called rad is an excerpt from what the tenants should be doing. and i asked you at a meeting, asked for an audit of hope, the mayor

dr. jackson, she wanted to make sure you got it in support of my appointment to this body. >> supervisor campos. >> thank you, i was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about bright line defense, what do you guys do, where does your funding come from? >> our funding? bright line defense is not a cdbg grantee, i believe that's one of the issues that any appointee before this committee needs to not have that conflict of interest. our understanding mostly comes from philanthropic foundations, i believe those are listed on our web site. bright line defense engages in policy advocacy on behalf of bayview hunter's point, mission district, selma, low income districts in san francisco. and one of the things that we have been proud to support is the local hiring ordinance that basically connects low income and local residents to construction jobs and guarantees that a percentage of those jobs go to san francisco residents. so we're about ensuring employment opportunities for communities across san francisco. >> is there a reason why bright line defense would lobby against community choice

dr. jackson made a really good point. back in the day, i know my grandmother and mrs. rogers, and all of those folks would meet about public housing. whether for rehabilitation or anything going on. the residents determined how they wanted their developments develop. or who they wanted to work in their development. and now it's just a lot difference. now i hope we have a strong process of open communication and feedback and working together. because there is a lot to do. and i know there some time limitation here, in terms of a 18-month time limit to get onboard with rad. but we have to be sure that we onboard in the residents, and include them in the process. it can't be come to city hall, we have to be in the community, and know the folks in the neighborhood communicating about the residents. yeah, it's a lot. and we got a lot of work to do. and i want to thank everyone for coming out here. and hopefully we can continue this discussion. because there is so many more things to talk about. and thanks again. >> there was a question i wanted to ask for the housing author
