our pet expert dr. jill chase joins us to talk about what to look for and when to be concerned. i have to tell you, i have a couple of dogs and i have noticed some mysterious bumps on mu dog, too. >> i brought mac in because mac has a little mass right here where my fingers are. it's not too big maybe .25" in diameter. the thing is masses can be anything, a tumor, either benign or malignant. it can be a cyst. it could be a foreign body like a little foxtail or splinter that got in there. sometimes it can be a little abscess which is an infection. so whenever you find something like that on your pet you should definitely notify your veterinarian right away. i wanted to talk about the difference between doing a fine needle asperait. they tolerate it well. a little needle we try to draw out cells. a biopsy is actually more definitive. if we take a little tiny piece of tissue, we can see exactly what we're dealing with. >> you don't need to go to the emergency room if you find a bump? >> not generally. i mean, obviously, if it's an oozing, you know, nasty looking bump maybe yes. but
