i would like to turn it over now to dr. leahy. >> thank you. on the commissioner of health in the state of texas. i appreciate all the help the cdc has given us, not only overnight but over the last several weeks as we have been working through this unprecedented event. our staff had been working throughout the night trying to gather more information and as we get more information as appropriate, we will provide that information. we do have one health care worker that had extensive contact with an initial patient who did what was appropriate with early symptoms that came in to be checked. we facilitated getting the lead test done and that test came back at 9:30 last night. as dr. frieden noted, it was positive in the controls were appropriate and the amount of virus in her blood came back as a positive test. our hearts go out to this individual and the family. health care worker who was willing to compassionately care for mr. duncan and again, our thoughts and prayers are with them. we have been preparing for events such as this, putting in the

dr. leahy will outline the results. i will share, it is very anxiety provoking to have had a potential exposure from ebola. when i had gotten back from west africa, i had gone in the ebola treatment units. every time i had the slightest sore throat and headache, i was concerned. that's what we want health care workers to do, be concerned about their health if they are in their group of 76 individuals. if so, come in for care rapidly so that you can be assessed. we would much rather see a false alarm than someone who let's their illness go on for a day and potentially get sicker and potentially expose others. so that's the system as it should work. we want people to come in if they have any symptoms. given that there was one patient, the second patient, the nurse, did get infected. it is possible we will see other people. we hope that won't be the case. i don't want anyone to take out of this that there were 76 exposed people. there were 76 people who had some level of contact, and, therefore, are being actively monitore

in terms of the contacts i will make a brief comment and turn it over to dr. leahy. the concern is not that they may in fact other people. judge jenkins said it exactly right. the only thing we need to ensure is that their temperature is monitored. if they develop a fever that they are immediately assessed, isolated and appropriately cared for. the authorities in texas determined the only way to ensure that for certain individuals that temperature is monitored daily was to take the actions they took. >> thank you. i think that is correct. we put in a control order to ensure we can protect the public health and safety. we do everything we can to monitor it compassionately and care for their needs. we feel very comfortable where the individuals are at this time. there are challenges getting into that location. things are going well with some now. we have individuals that are working with m daley, them daily.th taking temperature, and we feel comfortable they are in a safe environment. you transported him to the house, anything you would like to add to that? >> if you w
